my speaker blowed again getting my third eris grrrrrr!

Has anyone else had this problem. I don't even listen to music or any thing. Got all my volumes on 3/4. Occasionally listen to vm on speakerphone that's it. I did notice some metal shavings in the hole of the speaker from work but It has that screen. Nothing you do should blow the speaker the speaker should handle everything the phone throws at it!

its obviously the work conditions. i have mine on full volume playing music all the time and no problems and i havent heard problems from anyone else. try getting a case with some kind of better cover for the speaker hole?

I just got a refurb monday for this same reason. I too would have occasional metal shaving on the screen infront of the speaker. not sure if that has anything to do with it. and as for a case...... i keep it in a Body Glove hard case. They all have the speaker hole open, so how would a different case help in the slightest.

no idea. just throwing ideas out there. maybe the metal shavings somehow mess with the magnet in the speaker?

free, warranty... on the plus side of it all, I was on 2.1 leak, now I have root

I got my replacement the other day for the same reason. I didnt figure it was a common problem so I updated this one to the new 2.1 leak. Im hoping it dont have this issue again or they will probably void my warrenty for the new rom

I had not heard of this being an issue. I listen to quite a bit of music, but haven't had any problems.

mine's blown as well, but is only noticeable when the phone rings for some reason. have to take it in to have them look at it. i never play music through the speaker, so i have no idea what would have caused this

That is a bad opinion, as with all audio products you can blow ANY of them by abusing volume and the audio file you play. Not you specifically but come on, high bass techno, or hip hop and full volume on any platform, mobile, stereo, car system, computer speakers. will surely blow your speaker. My brother destroyed my high end speakers in my car with his one bass CD and turning the damn volume to go deaf, he also blew my surround sound system listening to LastFM on my Xbox while I was out of the house (I've got a nice setup with way to much power).

So if you know audio, you know you can destroy any speaker with the right music and volume settings.

in any case... since you dont listen to music much on the phone it shouldn't have blown. My wife and I listen to music on our phones all the time, but we've never had the speaker blow... yet, but we try never to max out the volume to prevent such a scenario. We always get the insurance plans on our high end phones... it pays for itself.

my speaker is messed up but it's the earpiece not the external speaker. probably returning it because of the buzzing. if they agree to swap it out i will be getting my fourth Eris.

I have also had a replacement new phone due to blown speaker. I was within the first 30 days. I also installed 2.1 leak on the phone before I got the new one to try it out. No speaker problems with the new one and I've had it a couple of weeks.

Yep, been there. I blew out my speaker in Dec. It was replaced on warranty.
It would be nice to have a dock with some speakers to keep from abusing the speaker.
