Root Pandora discussion - stock and rooted

Try switching to cdma only.

Menu.settings.mobile network

I just flashed a new rom last night and Pandora wouldn't work for me at all.
I tried using new versions and old ones but it would buffer 1% then time out and go to the next song. Lot's of users on XDA have been complaing about this issue throughout the threads there.
The only thing new was I had just updated my radio's and moved to a 1.22 Rom.
I did what Mr. Ed suggests. I switched to CDMA only this morning and Pandora worked great all day.

I don't know if it's an issue with the new radio's, Firmware, Pandora, or the Roms, but with the network set to CDMA/LTE it doesn't work.

Hope that helps you.

More details please

What Rom
What version of Pandora

As much as you can give. Changing to CDMA alone did not fix it, I have tried that.

I will try shipped radio right now.

Has anyone found a flash package to roll back firmware?

Mr. Ed,

I was on the Pokemon Rom since June 12. Pandora worked great the whole time. I am pretty certain that my Network was set to CDMA/LTE since i am in an area that should get it this year.

After S-off, flashing Viper 4G and then combo radio firmware file, Pandora wouldn't work. So I thought maybe it was the Rom and flashed ICS tranquility. The same problem was there. I looked through some threads and saw a lot of chatter about Pandora not working. I tried Pandora versions,
1.5.11
1.5.15
1.5.16
1.6

None of them would work. I even ran one straight from the market and no go.

Then I decided to switch the CDMA/LTE tag to just CDMA and it's fine.

I just tried it again this morning and still no go while on CDMA/LTE.

I hope that helps.
I haven't seen an old firmware package. Only the old radio's in Captain Throwbacks thread on the Mikmik.

Although he may be able to source them if he has the old radio's?

For people with s-off, you can flash the current pri - not totally following your comment on that, though. Did you mean the one that came with the 1.13 software??

Related or not, have you tried removing the proxy specifications?

Yup...tried that. Streaming still no workie.

So far
Tried all three radios
Tried viper,meanrom,fresh
Changed proxies

It's reported that other streaming apps like netflix and tune in are also effected

I need the pri that shipped with the phone but I can't find anyone that has pulled it.

I will try and yank it from the ruu but won't have time for a few days.

I haven't used Pandora previously but the discussion made me curious if it would work on my phone.

I am on MeanRom 2.7, S-off, flashed the firmware and the radios when they became available. My network is set up for LTE and CDMA.

I just went to the Playstore and installed the free version of Pandora and it lit right off. I was on wifi initially but turned it off to make sure it would work on Sprint's network. It does.

Does that info help you make any sense out of the problem or just confuse the issue?

I've been using the hacked 1.5.15 for years and I just checked it with wifi off and it is still working on 3g. I stream it everyday jacked into the wifi I have at work and haven't had any problems but this thread made me try it on 3g for the first time in a while. It's working fine although buffering between songs is understandably slower than I'm used to.

I skipped twice to verify it is working and it is.

I'm on Meanrom 2.7 with the new firmware, s-off, everything updated to latest.

Given Pandora's history with their app and it's behavior, I am hard pressed to blame Sprint even if the failure coincides with the pri change.

Mr. Ed had a long-running Pandora thread for the Evo, so this doesn't surprise me.

I'm able to stream Crackle movies on 3G, no issues, and video with a stereo soundtrack and Sony buffer management for DRM has a whole lot more going on than internet radio.

I am sympathetic to the plight of Pandora users, not saying that I am not, but trying to cripple a phone with firmware downgrades better mean a recognition of a whole lot of commitment to what is ultimately a crappy app.

I'm not necessarily having an issue with it as by changing a network setting it works fine. That is why I think it's a sprint issue because all of the versions of it don't work.

I have an older one that is themed and hence I don't update it.
I'm not losing sleep over it as it's working for me and I'd bet dollars to donuts that there is another update to our phones before I get LTE.

To me, as a Plumber who knows nothing about technology, I think there is a conflict between the two, radio's and pandora, and it was most likely unintentional.

So I probably won't change my proxy settings.;)
