As of right now, even though I have AppMonster Pro, I can't find a way to move apps to the SD card as I did with Gingerbread (and GingerSense) on the Org D'Inc. Is this a know ICS issue and does anybody know of a solution or a planned fix? Also, I am a bit confused about Internal versus phone storage. Settings/Apps lets me move some apps from one to the other. Can Somebody explain the benefits of one versus the other?

Good question. I just added my 16gb MicroSD from my OG Incredible today. After reading your post, I went into Settings > Apps to see if I could move any to the SD and the option isn't there -- just "Move to Phone Storage." The new SD card and free space does show under Settings > Storage.

If you look at your memory folders with any of the file manager apps, the folder "ext_sd" is what will contain what is on your memory card. Apparently HTC thinks that you're only be interested in storing pictures and music there! And the moving of apps can only be done between the "phone memory" and the "Internal storage" on the phone. There has got to be a way to get apps moved to the SD card but as of now.....NOT!

I'm guessing HTC isn't gonna do it cause they think 1GB should be enough. I hope someone is working on this soon. The casual user will be alright for now but power users will be chompin' at the bit about this.

Also.... does anyone know if this memory partition can be changed via rooting or is this a committed configuration because of hardware restrictions???? Everything I've rooted before (mostly Motorola Droid models are straight forward.... memory is either internal or the SD card!

Again, this is an ICS issue, not an HTC/Sense issue.

I guess I don't understand how this is an ICS issue.....

You mean that the partitioning of the memory as it is on the HTC Dinc4G LTE is a result of ICS and NOT a hardware configuration issue created by HTC? Sorry, I need someone to explain that a little better because you are telling me that Motorola, Sansung, and the other manufactures now have the same partitioning now that they have moved up to ICS.....
Any Motorola Razor/Razor Max, etc. owners want to verify this?

Oh yeah.... BTW, since when is a "file manager" program capable of moving apps to an SD card? You can move the folder, but that doesn't mean the program will run from the SD card (and file managers usually don't require rooting).

After reading my own comment above, I realized that I sounded a bit of a smart-ass...... my apology. But after following up on several other forums/comments I am seeing that there really is something going on with either HTC's Sense or ICS. It's frustrating that it feels like we kinda took a step bakwards.

I went through all the rooting excercises with my OG Droid and got some incredible results. I had hopes that a faster & newer OS would incorporate many of those custom features such that I can not bother rooting this one. I guess I'll have to wait & see if rooting my Dinc4G is in my future plans.

I'm with ya on that thought! I had NO intention of rooting this phone. I did the Org Inc and never did the Inc2... So far how I use this phone I don't think I will have to. The one annoyance I have is the Apple Lawsuit of not allowing and address to be opened in Maps, but rather only the browser. But there are work around for that.

I think the basic performance of my Dinc4G is great and I'm thinking root won't be needed for what I use it for, too,. It becomes an issue of annoyance because you KNOW they could have done better, and custom roms are evidence they can, but they don't listen to the users and just do it on the cheap for their own purposes.

.....about that maps issue, I click any address in my contacts and Google maps opens directly. Are you saying yours doesn't do that?

What he means is this:

Go to Google and search for a place (store, restaurant, whatever). Then click on directions in the results, and it goes to Google Maps in the browser, instead of opening the Google Maps app. Slightly annoying.

EDIT: Very confused.... This was an issue for some of us when we first got the phone, but now mine seems to be working as it's supposed to (opening Maps app, not in browser). Anyone else?

Hmmm... I tried it as you said and every other whichway, too, and it always opens the app. I do know that anytime I've ever found an app that seems to not function correct, I make it a habit to clear the cache and usually fixes things (expecially after an app update).

I have read a lot o complaints in the SG3 forums about the inability to move apps to SD. Think it's an ICS issue, not a Sense issue.

Mine still opens maps in the browser not the app. Wish it was the other way around.

Try clearing the app cache and data for both Maps and the browser.

I went into apps and cleared data and cache for google maps. I didn't see the "Browser" listed in apps so I went into the browser and cleared data there but still same results.

I search google for lowes it shows an address of the closest with the red google maps tag next to it tapping the address does nothing tapping the red tag opens google maps in the browser.

Gotcha.... Try this....
go into settings and select "APP ASSOCIATIONS"
Under Physical Address and Map Address, change the default to "MAPS" instaed of "BROWSER"

I bet that will fix it. Now anytime you have a address to map, it should always open the Google Maps App.

You have BOTH the "Physical Address" association AND the "Map Address" association set to Maps?? ....and it still isn't working??

Well, we know it can work correctly because mine and others work fine.
Go back to those Verizon Geniuses and give 'em hell.

LOL Verizon Geniuses = Oximoron have you ever asked them anything before? They have no clue. They can't even tell you about their own plans.

tried clearing the data/cache for maps and internet again also made sure they were not running.

Same results can't click on the text of an address but it shows a call, directions, etc buttons below the address and clicking on directions opens maps.google.com. Clicking on call opens up the dialer with the phone number.
