Help SMS problem plus bloatware problem

I hope someone can answer these issues.

I use handcent as my text app. I have turned off notifications on the stock app but after I respond to a text on handcent, I sometimes have to go into the stock app as well so the notification light stops blinking at me. Is there any way to prevent this?

Another issue I have is I have disabled some of the bloatware apps (google play books, google play movies etc.) which was supposed to be a benefit of ICS. But a few days later, I get notified from the play store to update those apps. When I check them, they are no longer disabled. Can these be permanently disabled?

Besides these minor issues, I love this phone.

for the sms notification light, if you go in to Settings>Display(i think)>Notification light you can uncheck the sms one there.

as far as removing the bloatware apps, such as the google native apps you listed, you would have to be rooted to do that...

Correct....
Google Native Apps as you listed can't be disabled without root, but vendor apps (such as Verizon bloatware) can be permanantly disabled (but not uninstalled).

I don't want to totally disable the notification light just want to disable it on the stock app which I did but it keeps notifying me.

I didn't realize there was a difference between the Verizon bloatware apps and native Google apps. Thanks for the clarification!

only some of them can be disabled.....slacker radio, nfl game, my verizon mobile, amazon kindle, amazon mp3, vz navigator, and a few others CAN NOT be disabled. which is total BS if you ask me.

Really???? My Dinc4g LTE (Verizon) allowed me to disable all the apps you listed! That's actually a feature of ICS which I like. The only Verizon app I didn't disable was My Verizon Mobile just so I can check my usage, and Visual VoiceMail. Nice thing is the icons are totally hidden when you disable them. My friends Moto Razor/Maxx from Verizon had ICS and it worked fine for him, too!
