okay i got mikg rom can i just install set cpu and use it or do i have to flash a kernel and than i can use set cpu

You need a kernel to take full advantage of it

Kernels vary with different phones.
You want performance?--Anthrax
You want battery life?--Underworld
What works for me, may not work for you as kernels play differently with different phones......try it, flash it, let it settle for 3 days and then judge it.
You will not lose your hotspot app

ok for any kernel you need ti give a few days to let it settle in before making a change to a different kernel.

and it is not the rom that drains the battery, it will most likely be your kernel.

I would also added that true battery drain is often caused by poor setup. Like how many things do you have setup to sync in the background? Are you leaving 4g or wifi on when you're not using them? Like if I'm at work where I don't have wifi I turn it of so it's not searching for a wifi signal all day long. Try turning off 3g when you're not using it also. You can still get texts and voicemails with your data disabled.

These kinds of things are more important for achieving good battery life than any kernel ever will be.

I would try the sbcnohavs.zip.
viper mod will be needed to change stock voltages if necessary but I dont mess with that at all.
There are other apps such as system tuner or Incredicontrol to change voltages if you desire.

Just download to computer and transfer to sd card.
Boot into recovery.
Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Flash kernel.
Wipe cache and dalvik cache again (I do, some dont)
Reboot.
