Sprint GS3 Screen Replacement Options

So that didn't take very long, dropped the phone and the screen shattered on one edge and then cracked down the middle. Very discouraging (first phone I'll have to try to get repaired ever). What are my options?

I called Isurion and they said I'd just have to get a new replacement phone for the $150 deductible (ugh). Two Sprint stores said they don't do it (double ugh) and one referred me to a place that replaces screens . . . for $250 (triple ugh). One other Sprint store said they did replacements, but didn't have any replacement screens in stock, and said if I had isurion insurance they'd replace the screen for free. But I get the feeling they may not have known what they were talking about.

Any thoughts? I'd prefer to avoid $150, but that looks like my best option at this point :(

When I spoke with a local Sprint store they suggested I could get a new screen for between $50-$80 at the local place that ended up quoting me $250. Is this a situation where the demand simply is not high enough yet? Will screen replacement costs be going down substantially any time in the near future?

Any thoughts anyone? It looks like current GS3 replacement screen/digitizers are approximately $250 online, while iPhone 4S replacement screens are currently selling at $50.

call samsung customer service and have them fix it. $179 covers everything (repair, 2nd day air shipping back to you), all you pay is the box and wrap fee by ups to ship it out (cost me like $3.50)

best part is its your phone, not a refurbished that insurance companies might issue. i shipped mine out yesterday and its already in texas as we speak (im from nj).

it sucks, but it looks like your best bet is through samsung, who will use quality parts, and it will be fixed by professionals. buying a screen and trying to fix it yourself, you might run into problems.

if i went through insurance through AT&T (which i didn't opt for), it would have been 10$ a month on my bill PLUS $200 deductible and filing for that is a pain in the pass process from what I have heard.

just pull the trigger with samsung, invest in a case while you wait, and as i said in another post... death grip your phone from now on. good luck!

Thanks! I'm kind of sitting on it as we speak, as the phone still functions, and with the slim case I now have on it all I can see is the small shattering crack around the top left of the screen, and then the crack that goes down about half way on the left part of the screen.

I look at it and am reminded of the Native American practice of putting into each piece of art (garments, rugs, paintings, sculptures) an imperfection, as attempting to be perfect is god-like and unattainable. Having the cracked screen makes me worry about my phone less, which is nice because other than the crack the phone is fantastic.

I agree that I'd like to keep my phone rather than get a new one, as this phone is great, no substantial problems thus far.
