Htc Hero vpn application

Hi Guys

I'm a newbie here just got my HTC Hero and would like to get a vpn application to work on the phone, I have treid some apps but cannot seem to get it working. Is there anyone who could please help met set this up (which application should I use ??). It would be much appreciated!
