A Useful App for Syncing to PC

*This actually should work on any PC and any android phone manufactured by Motorola (which includes the Triumph). The program is called Motocast (its also an app in the market)

Background (skip if you don't care): In the early days of my MT ownership (pre-root) I tried dozens of media players from the market and for my PC. I was looking for one with a slick yet detailed interface, graphic equalizer, and could sync easily with my PC (either Windows Media Player or iTunes). Long story short, this was actually pretty tough to do since the apps I loved did not have desktop counterparts and vice-versa. That, or they were really cumbersome programs like Winamp. I ultimately settled on purchasing Poweramp from the market and found it to be the best available music player. However, third party syncing apps and programs just added hassle and often did not work completely. So here is a solution....

Download and install Motocast for your PC:
MotoCast

Download and install the Motocast app from the market:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.motocast.standalone&hl=en

Set them both up with the appropriate data... and VOILA! you can now sync your phone to ANY of the selected content on your PC! This of course is irrelevant if you're using Google Play Music's cloud service, but I found the Google Music Player to be unsatisfactory.

UPDATE: The Triumph is not a supported device. Sorry for the preemptive post, I got excited when I saw it. A viable option is to install Google Music and just use it as a syncing tool for your music. Perhaps someone will come up with a trick like the HTC Thunderbolt / Play Store switch-a-roo in the "all things root thread"

I use subsonic for this same purpose. It has a $10 (or maybe $15, I can't remember) required donation to keep the android client working (after a trial), but it works great, and is generally a really nice music player overall.

Ironically enough I just stumbled upon that app in the market a couple days ago. Got my hands full at the moment, but I'll give it a try for sure. Thanks for the tip.

Update 8/10/12: I tried Airdroid and you guys were right It works great, love it! Thanks for the suggestion.

I downloaded AirDroid on my OV, and gave it a try, but was unable to use the "drag-n-drop" file copy/move feature of the app. Then I saw something, somewhere on the app's screen, that the drag-n-drop feature of the app only works if you are running the app with the Google Chrome browser.

Can someone confirm that this is, in fact, the case?

I've been using FileZilla and the SwiFTP app and, while a bit cumbersome, it works fine. The AirDroid app seems simpler to use and a bit more intuitive, but I just don't know if it's worth the switch to Chrome just for the sake of one app.

I don't know if AirDroid needs Chrome for Drag and Drop, but I did install Chrome just to play a game on Facebook, which plays best in Chrome. For everything else, I still use Firefox, and if necessary, the IE engine via IE Tab 2 in Firefox.

So I say go ahead and install Chrome anyway. It doesn't hurt to have multiple browsers available on your PC.

I just picked up a Triumph on CraigsList and am in the process of switching over to it from the OV which I've been using for over a year. Still like the OV, just wanting the little bigger screen and more app space.

I know what you mean. I had to set up Link2SD on my Optimus V to fit all my apps and still have plenty of free space. With the Triumph, I have not had any need for Link2SD, since it has plenty of space (until the logs fill it up if you are running the stock ROM with no fix applied for the log growth issue).

Two good reasons to run a new ROM on the Triumph are: To fix the log issue, and to fix the slow GPS issue. There are plenty of other reasons, but to me, those are 2 of the biggies.
