Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM7 build 2013-03-03

Would you say that running underclocked almost all the time is a benefit battery-wise for you Chairshot? I've seen so many conflicting opinions about clock speed & battery life (underclock means less energy used by CPU vs. overclock means CPU processes done more quickly = less energy used). I guess I should just try it for grins sometime & see- it sure would be nice to put the MT in "long-play" mode if I know I was going to be using it & that it would be a long day with no chance to plug in.

I have done my testing over a few weeks. Underclocking has it's benifits. Small, but they are an improvement. I had a kernel that would allow clock speeds down to ~20 MHz, Miniscule improvement over 61MHz. Our phones have a deep sleep mode were the processor is practally off. When in this state if the processor is at say ~700MHz, and it goes to sleep, it is for all intents and purposes off. Because of that, and sense ~200 is low enough to be at a low voltage, but fast enough to get most screen-off stuff done, the lower speeds don't save much power. But they do save a drop or two.

I might see if I can do a more scientific graph if I can get a second MT. I think it will show up on the CM9 thread though.

You should try under volting :) I use Incredicontrol.

I fixed the problem. It must have been a bad flash. I wiped everything (factory reset), wiped caches, formatted system and reinstalled the ROM and gapps. Everything appears to be functional. I had the phone deep sleep and was able to bring the WiFi right back up without issue (rather fast as well...connection took less than 5 seconds). You've done an amazing job with CM7 G60. We are all very grateful you are here. Thank you so much!!

Your very welcome :) But just remember it's not just me only working on the code, its all of MTDEV. It's Chairshot, dsmryder & me. They both have added a bunch to the code, the GPS wouldn't be rocking like it is with out the countless hours Chairshot spent on tweaking the gps.conf. And trust me he was sending me a conf file at least once or twice a day to test out. He also got the FFC camera working on this ROM! dsmryder, added fixes to the screen time outs and also the camera, and has been working on a power saving kernel. He will be getting much more involved with the development as soon as his new RIG arrives, and thats thanks in part to all the donations we have been given!!!! So even though I am posting all the ROM's it's not jut be working on them :)

I did when Whyzor and mantera located the code in the kernel. I have sense lost intrest in it because of a post that someone did that was a psudo scientific test that showed no benifit to undervolting. I used incredicontrol, still have it, and I know that it doesn't set below 800mV. You can test it if you want. Set your >~500MHz to 775mV. Nothing will happen. Set it to 800, instant lockup. What I want to do, after we get CM9 going, it have a set of test kernels with forced undervolting. I have a kinda safe way to do it. And it will have it's risks. I think it may work for a some and not for others.

may i ask y this wonderful rom is on hold? ;o

Basicly it's as done as it will get. That, and work has begun on CM9. We are going to consintrate on CM9 for a while with some updates to CM7 as needed. If there are any problems here on CM7, let us know and we'll look into it and try to fix whatever needs fixing.

G60 and chairshot got this thing working so well, that I'm blown away. I know g60 gives me some credit, but the additions I have made is small by comparison. I hope to make a better contibution on the next round.

And it's not like you don't see us posting around the forums, even in Whyzor's Reloaded.

Anyway, you are not abandoned.

does anyone else still experience random reboots?

I haven't had a random reboot for like two months. That day my nephew was playing a game for like a half hour. And I run experimantail builds. My current time sense reboot is over 47 hours.

Random reboots are useually caused by a bad app or improper settings. Diagnostics can be APITA. When I had troube I had to remove apps or reflash. That's why I made a push for a checksum on a bunch of people's releases. It's a way to verify the file hasn't been corupted.

If you guys want features, sense what I'm talking about can be back ported, like my alarm mod, post what you would like to see. It may show up in here first, then work it's way into the CM7 version.

I hope to make a setting to act like JuiceDefender should work. I also hope to add a power profile so when you have the phone plugged in it will act one way, and act another way while unplugged.
Get what I mean?

First will be getting ICS running, then bring up stability, and maybe along the way add features.

I'm so excited! Thanks to you I have a new rig coming hopefully on the 15th. I expect to be building as early as the next night.:adore:

The battery does drain a little more. However the trade off is stability and also working GPS. One work around is turn off the GPS unless you really need it.

I'll tell you the truth. I never turn off the GPS widget, and I have great battery life. Well if you can call up to 24 hours with some email, couple of phone calls, a bunch of texts, and some lunch time research good battery life.

Anyone else having trouble getting gapps? i really need to install this rom and i cant get a download of gapps
Yes, the gapps link said "file not found", but from the filename in the link, it seems to be the same old gapps version I already downloaded a long time ago when I was previously using CM7, so I just used the one I already had.

I had switched to the Sharp ROM for the fast GPS, but switched back to CM7 tonight, now that it is supposed to have fast GPS too.
