Hello Everyone, i am a new user who is new to this forum, to the android forum community as a whole.

I recently purchased the Evo V 4g on August 8th, and knowingly knew about the problems it was having (feel free to call me dumb if necessary)

And as expected i am also having the SMS problems.

but i dont get the Radio Shortage error at all, the txt msgs show they are going through, but it doesnt actually go through to the other carrier.

and i can't get txt coming in either. Now when i tried to ask VM support for help, i had already done the basics you guys put up, they told me to do the same thing (didnt help) so i have a investigation number now for this problem and currently waiting for them to call back.

And wht i found strange is that, when i reactivated my Triumph for my sis, i tried to txt her, and it went through surprisingly, and i got txts back as well.

But when i asked another friend of mines who was on a different carrier to txt me it didnt come at all, nor did my txt going to them reached them.

Everything else works PERFECTLY FINE, Internet and calls, just no SMS.

Should i wait it out and hope for a update on this, or try another phone whether its a new Evo V, or just a completely different phone?

I have been thinking about switching to Boost mobile and getting they're EVO since there hasnt been many reported problems for theirs.

plz help me, thank you.

yes they reactivated my phone, overall atleast 3 times during the days that i've called them. They mainly told me to take out the battery, and wait the insert it back in, and try to send a txt. didnt work

then they told me insert the #-#CLEAR#-# then and reset my phone it still didnt work...

Im very worried because i can can't get ANY msgs from anyone or to anyone except for my sis and she just cracked her Triumph,(but it has warranty).

I even tried using textfree for ipod and send some msgs to me phone still havent worked.

But when the VM advisor sent me a txt it came through.

Have you also tried running the system updates under Settings such as updating the PRL? That's my only other guess, all else fails you can call them and ask for an exchange of phones, which they should offer for free.
Yes i have tried updating the PRL, no updates were available.

I didnt buy it online, i bought it at radioshack....so i dont know if they will actually let me get a phone....or should they since i bought it within the week???

I am going to exchange my phone. Thank you so much for your help. I hope this problem doesnt continue. This phone has huge potential but this one annoying thing is holding it back.

Oh i have a investigation ticket for this phone should i wait until then and then try to exchange it?

I believe you can exchange it up to 30days at radio shack. They also give you 30days to decide if you want the extended insurance. I didn't get the extended insurance, I have my triumph to fall back on. I'd call about the ticket and if nothing is done yet. Exchange the phone. Don't let Radio shack provision the phone. Do it online or better yet I'd call VM just to make sure its done right . :)

Weird. I bought my Triumph on eBay new (got it for a reduced price too) and I was able to get it exchanged with the 1 year. Can anyone confirm this?

Anyways, glad we helped you in any way possible, and good luck!

Virgin is strange, even if you purchase a phone used or receive a warranty replacement your 1 year warranty restarts upon activation. I

Considering that you can receive texts from within the network but have issues with text messages from other networks suggests that it's not a phone issue but a provisioning issue. This phone seems to have problems at the network level with having all of the flags set on your account. Last week I started having a problem with my voice mails not showing up on my phone. They ended up by saying that some services weren't currently set on the account. A couple of keystrokes later and all was good. Give them a call and ask them to specifically check that all of your services are properly provisioned on your account.

I bought my phone online as well, and it doesn't matter; you still get a (I believe) one year warranty with Virgin Mobile. They have offered to replace my phone a few times already. I declined because A) my phone is new and they will send a refurbished phone B) the issue is with all phones, so I don't want to waste my time exchanging it only to have the same problem.

ETA: When the agents check the information on my phone, they see it as being bought at a specific store where the original seller purchased it, so they don't necessarily know that you or I bought it online. I'm not sure if it makes a difference anyway, because I want to say that you still have a one year warranty covering the phone from purchase date, even if the phone transfers owners in middle.

What OverByter said. This radio interface and signal issue that many of us are having should not stop you from texting completely. My phone works normally much of the time, with the errors occurring sporadically. (For myself, this is not affected by signal strength, since I am in an area that has good coverage.)

The suggestion to call them and ask them to check the features/provisioning on your phone is a good one.
