galaxy S2 vs S3. Should I go for the update?

According to your point of view Is it worth changing S2 for S3?

I mean: Speed, Size, Battery Life, performance in general, wifi, Data, etc.

I don't know if I should try to sell my S2 and go for S3 or wait for something better? (S4 or iPhone 5?)

Any advice will be very welcome.

I have to agree with rudedawg. Upgrade only if your time is up in your contract. The s2 is a very nice phone and can more than wait another year before an upgrade in my opinion.

For me personally, the S3 is not sufficiently differently enough to change up. If you're coming from a lower spec device then it's great but it just didn't seem enough from the S2 for myself to get one. I'm hanging on for a new nexus release which cuts out the software upgrade circus.
I'd give it a couple more months and see what appears...new galaxy note etc...

Is there a new Nexus coming? That would be great.

I really like galaxy S3 (also my galaxy S2 of course). I find Note too big to carry and keep in my pocket. S3 is also a bit big. I like phones that can be handle with one hand.

I never had an iPhone and don't know if they are as good as many people say. They are nice and since the OS is only made for them, they should be very stable. Don't also know about iPhone battery life (another important issue).

iPhones have good apps. For instance there is one called VideoStar to record video and adding effects at recording time which is really good.

On the other hand, I would like to hear people who owns both (S2 and 4s) so they can tell advantages and disadvantages.

What I like about Android is that is Linux based.

Well, looking forward for more advices and opinions.

I would also like to share this video. I don't agree but must confess it's funny :)

Thanks for all your help!

No new nexus announced as of yet but seems likely google will continue with these "pure google experience" devices and I hope so as they skip the wait for firmware and all that network operator nonsense.
As for iphone; I had one for two years. Yes they are smooth and easy to use and simple to get to grips with, but that is the catch. They are also very locked down and there is something of the stepford wives about them all as you have no scope to customise unless jailbroke and then only partially.
If you don't mind about individual looks and setup then they are great but they are just too buttoned down for my tastes these days.
Best to head to your local phone store and try a few out, including iphone and see how it feels.
Afterall, it's your money. :p

Thanks for your advice Logan47! I think I will keep my S2 for a while. S3 is around u$s 500.- here in my country (unlocked goes around 800). iPhones are around u$s 800. That's too much money for a teacher like me! :)

S2 has 2x RAM iPhone 4S has and also the possibility to expand with external SD card.
S3 is -I think- a great phone. Faster an surely it has some improvements beside that too.

HTC, Motorola and Samsung are very similar. This S2 was my first Android device.

Thanks again!

I think everyone who says the gs3 isn't a big upgrade is just jealous they don't have one:D
Seriously though I haven't been one bit disappointed. The processor is grounds for upgrade alone. I'm not much of a gamer on my phones but where a few of the high end games would lag and stutter a bit on my old gs2 they run flawlessly on my s3. Despite the extra processor power and the bigger HD screen I am getting double the screen on time I used to have. The improved camera and sound quality and exfat and apt-x support are just a few of the other improvements.

For me I upgraded from an Iphone 3GS to the GS2 so you can easily see how I would feel about wanting the same jump again. The trouble is I skipped a generation with the 3GS . I got that phone around the time the 4 was announced. Previously I had a Samsung Tocco (shudders).

Now whilst Shotty makes a good case , that tech is by no means as big a jump as you'd think. The next gen of tech is very close and this year leading with new generation processors and new graphical engines , 2013 is going to be the year you'll really see something really special.

The S3 is specwise a powerful phone but for the average user don't expect much else than it being slightly bigger , slightly sharper visuals and some new fancy features Samsung are trying out. The SGS3 is almost the Iphone 4s of the Samsung Galaxy S world. (and before you haters jump on me, Im not talking tech wise).

My wife updated her samsung galaxy s recently to a Note. I have an S2. I am waiting to see the Note 2 and would consider that over the S3. Yes the existing Note is big, but the screen is fantastic. I think that probaly the thing my phone is used least for is actually phoning someone so the large screen is even more appealing. She got the official samsung case that replaces the original back cover on the note and flips over to protect the screen so the whole thing is incredibly slim and fits in your pocket no problem. First reactions to the phone are Wow that is huge, but show a video or game on it and it changes to comments on how great it looks. Still a long while for me to go to upgrade but if Note 2 looks as good as it promises i will consuder updating early.

Ahhhhhhhhhh! I'm damm pissed off on this freaking 1st post! I spent like half hr typing between the pros and cons of 4S and S2 and when I pressed the preview post button, I got a STUPID MSG telling me it's my 1st post and no images or smilies can be posted!

So what happens to the words I spent typing?! Thanks! I guess this will be my 1st and last post!
