Anyone REGRET buying Galaxy Note??

I currently use the Galaxy S3, wanted the Note ever since it came out but I'm Verizon so... right now, I'm desperately waiting for the Note 2 to come out in Verizon. For you Note users, anyone regret getting it? I know the screen is hugggeeee, which is one of the reasons I want it so bad, but after some usage, did you guys find it uncomfortable?? I carry a purse so I wouldn't have any issues carrying it around, but when you're on the phone, does it get uncomfortable after some time? Do you have to strain your hand a lot and does it tire after a while? I'm a chick with pretty tiny hands and just wondering... Are there other issues that make you regret buying a note? Thanks in advance!

If you have an S3 I would see the Note as a step backwards. I have a Note and my wife has an S3. I am very happy with my Note but the S3 is more powerful and the screen is only a bit smaller (what is half an inch between friends). I like the sound of the Note 2 but I can't justify upgrading at this stage, maybe the Note 3. As a guy I find the size a bit inconvenient if I don't have a jacket, bag or cargo pants but with my fat fingers the extra screen size is worth it. I still feel a bit self conscious using a small tablet as a phone at times but you do get used to it.

No phone on the market can give me the usability and screen estate and the power is adequate for now.

This is a little thing, but I love the fact that there are 5 columns of icons on this screen (made possible by 800 pix), this is something unique and it enables me to centre align 1x1 widgets which is nice to be able to do

I am not planning on changing phones until A15 processors are widely used, the current Quad Cores A9 phones will not be that much more powerful than my note, so why upgrade? The rumored Note 2 sounds interesting, but I feel the power demands from all these functionalities are stretching what A9 processors are able to give. This is precisely why S3 was never a viable phone for me, the advance is not big enough in my view.

So for now I still love my Note and no regrets what so ever.

I love the phone itself. The hardware is excellent, size is great for me and it's just damn sexy. Easily the best looking phone I have owned to date.

However, after using it for half a year I regret choosing an Android phone and will be purchasing a different phone in a month or so.

No regrets here, my missus has the Galaxy S2 and it feels so small to me. Never had a problem getting it in or out of my trouser pockets, and that's with an Otterbox Commuter case on it. I had an HTC Hero before and had to get something off it the other day and it just seemed ridiculously small.

I have an inkling of regret but thats mainly for two reasons. Firstly, the phone performance has deteriorated since upgrade to ICS. I get lots of lag and crashes. The second reason is that I also have the Nexus 7 now and I'm very happy with that

That's a software issue where the update hasn't applied properly and could happen with any phone. No lag or crashes on my Note running 4.0.4. I'd suggest reapplying the update or checking for apps that might be causing the issue.

Love it, It's an awesome phone,
some nay saying ibrick owning friends told me it will be too big and too awkward.
But they were wrong, fits in my front jean pockets fine! Also fits in my suit jacket inside breast pocket fine!
Even when I have a external battery case on it, still fits fine

Got zero complaints about this phone

I would say not. I think now that my wife has a Nexus, with a Jelly Bean ROM on it, I'm kind of wishing I went that route. Hopefully the note is popular enough that Samsung ports Jelly Bean to it though.

Seems like Note users all love it so much and think it's the best phone but when you talk to people who DON'T own one, they think the size is just ridiculous. but psh... what do they know? I think I'm going to wait for the Note 2 to come out and pounce the moment Verizon releases it. ^___________^

Love the Note!! Everyone was saying it's too big but I didn't see it as big as I upgraded from the Dell Streak so was used to having a good size of phone, haha! It fits into every pocket I've put it in and loving ICS.

Once I got around to putting CM9 on it, it became a wonder phone - a decent, clean rom utterly transforms the experience. Also, I use the Mugen 5400mah battery, adds a bit of weight but makes the Note much nicer to hold and grip, plus the small matter of a battery life that never....ever...ends...*Very* heavy user when I'm at work, I've never seen it dip below 30%. When I'm not at work I can easily get 3 or 4 days without a charge. Basically, I never have to even think about battery life which is awesome and liberating.

That said, I'll be going for Nexus phones in future, assuming they have big screens and sd slots and/or 64gb.. Personally, I can't be bothered with constantly fiddling with custom roms, I'd much rather have vanilla android and be done with it.

Not a NOTE user, yet. I'm on a Dell STREAK 5.

One thing that hasn't been brought up yet is that a large phone like this is not a one-handed device for texting. My wife's iPhone is fairly easy to 1-hand. I can text short messages on it with just one thumb of the hand holding the phone.

My Streak? No can do. I have to hold it with the left while I write with the right. I also love the Swype keyboard, and in landscape mode that ends up being a LOT of real estate to cover. It feels like I'm drawing, not texting. But, once you get the hang of it, and once you keep it in portrait mode (like the Note is designed, the Streak was designed for landscape unfortunately) it is much easier and more comfortable.

If you have small hands, it might take a little to get used to texting two-handed. It isn't like those old Blackberrys.

But, the larger screen is king. I could never go back to something only 4" (or god forbid, smaller like an iPhone). The 5" size is just too good to pass on.

I've rooted now and installed KingDroid. Seems better

- are we talking about the OFFICIAL samsung-approved/released ICS here? Or some other form of ICS?

-A guy above mentioned using CM9 to get it running really sweet, and improving batt. life. This is nice, but I saw one youtube video of CM and when the guy switched the phone on, a giant android came up on screen and it all just looked a bit... i dunno, dare I say cheap?

I like Samsung's TouchWiz, I haven't used it enough to comment on it's speed but I certainly think it looks professional and respectable.

The guy about the Nexus7... yes this was my ideal.. especially how spankin new it is, JellyBean, QuadCore tegra. I was almost going to buy it.. but I need something which is a phone AND a tablet (or at least, a bit of both).

Re: CM9, yeah there is a different splash screen on boot, but otherwise it's pretty much vanilla ICS that you'd get on a Nexus, plus a few handy tweaks. Personally, it'd be painful to go back to Touch Wiz now, but that's ultimately personal preference. What isn't opinion is that it is far far more reliable re: battery life and suffers none of the horrendous drain issues that plague some of the Samsung 4.0.X builds. It was the latter that forced me to go custom rom (was experiencing 3-4% battery drain an hour when idle), and I'm so so glad I did.

Yegon, this is music to my ears. I'm very happy to hear that it's basically almost the same as stock ICS as I know sometimes custom-softwares can include fancyness or experimental features, which can sometimes result in annoying crashes if you're a noob to the feature.

So this CM9 custom rom, this is the latest one available? (I skimmed on engadget a headline about CM10 I think). To load it, the note must be rooted? And this voids warranty, all correct? I plan to buy the Note outright (brand new) so I can avoid any carrier nonsense like them telling me to bugger if cos' it's been rooted. (if it cocks up).

What are we looking at now (CM9) in terms of battery life? (I am keen to buy this over the S3 for it's great size!) but the S3 is tempting me with it's better battery life, oh and the quad-core (I can't deny that part).

I'm like you, I don't want any crazy custom tweaks, I just want the most stable and closest to Google's vision of android as possible.

The build I'm running is about a month old. Ive stuck with it because its rock solid stable and everything works how I want it too. Be warned, the S Pen stuff does NOT work in this version, no idea if it ever will, but I never use the pen so don't care.

There are some cm10 builds out there I seem to recall, but I'm going to wait for later builds that are guaranteed rock solid.

Can't give you exact numbers re battery as I use the Mugen extended battery, but I can say its very good and markedly better than Samsung stock, probably due to zero fluff and crappy bloatware.
