Help Can i use a Micro SDHC card in my Tab 2 10.1

hey guys i got my new tablet yesterday and was looking at memory for it as mine is only a 16g one i found 32g on Ebay for good prices but there Micro SDHC cards. before i buy one i just need to know will they work in my tab.

Hi mate.

I have a tab 2 10.1 and we bought one for our 4 year old and both of them have Sandisk 32gb class 4 micro sdhc memory cards installed.

I have yet to notice any slowdown or lag when playing back video or audio from these cards.

So to answer your question, yes 8)

My Sandisk MicroSD 32GB class 10 SDCH is working fine (formatted as FAT32)!

I do have problems with Sandisk MicroSD 64GB class 10 SDXH which is nog recognised by my Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1. This one is formatted as exFAT.
Please, any help/suggestions?

Why not use just use something like App 2 SD to move apps that will run off SD card.

Obviously it would be nice to have that as an option when installing as opposed to using another 3rd party app.

Correction: my tablet recognises the SD card - I can view it in Settings, Storage; and look at it with My Files /Root/extsdcard. BUT when I try to move apps on to it with App 2 SD (or SD Move) I get the error message
"The device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated. Moving app to SD function may not be supported by this device"
So what now? Have I missed some general setting on the tablet?
I have btw tried 3 different SD cards (4, 16 and 32 GB) and all yield the same results

Shortly after I purchased my Android Ice cream Sandwich Samsung 7inch Galaxy T2 tablet, I took a 32GB micro SD card, placed it into the slot provided by Samsung only to find out that it doesn't work. The T2 reports that it's there, etc, but if you use an SD app to move stuff to it, it doesn't do anything. I have formatted the card, re-formatted it, etc... NOTHING!!! HELP?

You would think this would be a common problem but NO ONE knows the answer. I have been investigating this for over a month now... About to give up and get the dreaded IPad...

I have just had a reply from Samsung:

"Most applications can not actually be moved to your SD card, including
all preloaded apps. Is there any app in particular you are trying to
move?"

There is nothing to that effect in the quick start guide or the full guide. Makes one wonder what is the point of the extra memory storage capability (apart from music and video files and such like).

More to the point, why should Samsung exclude this capability when it's doable on their smartphones? Was the left hand not talking to the right when the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was being developed?

The software on our TAB 2 is half-baked. NTFS should be working as well on our devices as I read 4.0 has naitve NTFS. Also no face unlock. Why are these things missing? I paid nearly 400 bucks for this thing!

I actually think it is possible. On reading a few forums it looks as though it may require a bit of tinkering to the filesystem/files/permissions to achieve.

I'm going to do some more digging, and hopefully, if i can find some usefull info, once i weed out the 'sarcastic' cloaked tinyurls to google and RTFF there may actually be a solution.

I look forward to reading your resuts. Both SDMove and Apps2SD gave the same report for me, basically that the SD card wasn't present. So if fiddling with system file permissions works ....

There is an App available on XDA forums called Directory Bind, which according to the Developer allows you to move 'data' for apps to external storage.

Unfortunately, neither 4 versions of the app will actually install on my Tab 2 10.1, complaining that there us a lack of space, this could be down to me running CM 10 4.1.1, 'or' it could be a case that it only works for other mobile devices, such as the Galaxy S3.

I have posted a query to the dev, and i have my fingers crossed that there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Some of the replies from people using the app have reported being able to move huge chunks of data to external storage which is superb.

Ok, so after some trial and error, i eventually managed to get Directory Bind to install on my Tab, although it was rather a chore with me having to wipe and install CyanogenMod 9 and then 10.

The problem appeared to be related to permissions which was stopping the programe fron getting past the install stage.

Using Rom Toolbox and running the Permissions script sorted the problem out allowing it to be installed.

Now, the software is not very intuitive, and although it appears to actually work, by moving the 'relevant' data files/folder to the external SD card, there appeared to be orphaned files left in the original install location, usually, Android/data/*.*

I moved a few Apk to external SD including Ski Safari, Snark Busters and Adventure Chronicles. All the apps actually ran once moved.

I still need to do some more testing, which i will probably do side by side with my sons Tab before i could say for definate, that 'it works 100%'.

There is also another app named GL2SD which operates in the same manner, but again, appears to be rather finicky in it's operation on the Tab.

FYI. Both apps appear to be getting plaudits on some of the newer phones such as the S3 which has the same issue as the Tab where apps will not install to external sd.

More testing to be done when i get some spare time. 2 young boys and one wife needs lots of time 8)

I read through the splurge about "Directory Bind", To me it seems that the app will only move data and not the app itself.
