Help battery life and cell standby

The battery life from a full charge on my s3 seems to vary quite alot, got a warning to start charging it a few mins ago, got a few screenshots and it seems to be the all familiar cell standby, are there any news regarding fixing this or any tips to make it better?

From what I've read, the cell stand by really isn't using that much juice. That's an error in the the way the statistics are reported.

That's pretty okay battery life considering your WiFi is constantly turned on. How much screen time did you have?

Its not BS. Read my thread. Its not using as much power as the graph states. There's a typo in the file the graph uses whereby it shows 10 times the use than reality.

I'm not saying its not using power, just not as much as the OPs graph suggests

Also you're not international so I don't even know if you have this issue. Regardless, you should definitely do your research before claiming something to be BS

Sean, mine drops of just 2% or 3% overnight, it's definitely not that the case. I have the International Galaxy.

I have the at&t version. And it really varies from phone to phone...I have the stand by drain, as does someone who work for me, but then my lady can go 18hrs without a hitch and her stand by time is pretty normal, losing maybe 3-5% over night. But as for me...Anywhere from 50-70% over night with no use.

at&t is sending me out a replacement device, I will see how the new one does and post results.

Just an FYI...Tried both a new battery and my lady's battery and I'm seeing the same results, so its definitely a problem within the phone.

There are two separate issues. One is a bug in the way the battery drain is calculated, as SUroot said.

The other issue is that some phones have abnormal battery drainage, such as in the OP:s case.

One major problem with these two problems is that it is very difficult to get to the bottom of what is actually draining the battery that badly if both problems occur simultaneously.

The baseline report after hard reset, battery pulls and no apps downloaded is way off, due to the faulty programming.

My phone has been losing about 3-4% per hour sitting in idle on my desk here at work.

Granted I have left wifi on all the time. I used to shut it off on my Captivate when I wasn't home since there is no wifi at work. I just shut it off now to see whether that lowers the drain. If it does, I'll look into some apps that might control it automatically (or I can just remember to pull down the top window and do it manually I guess......but sometimes I forget and then I'm not on wifi once I get home)

Download better battery stats, fix your wake lock issue ...

What is this?.......when I look at my battery graph at the end of the day I see a lot of little blue blips where my phone was awake, presumably to receive emails or sync something. Does that mean I have a "wake lock issue" or does a wake lock mean that my phone NEVER goes to sleep?

just trying to understand if I need to be doing something. I'm not yet willing to do a "turn off all data communication whenever the screen is off" because I would like to get notifications and emails. I guess now that I think about it, I wonder if it is less efficient to stay with PUSH email versus setting my email to check once per hour or even two. I can always go into email and hit the sync button and wait a minute if I really want to see email. Would I be saving much power though in reality or do those little wakeups under a PUSH regime not drain much?

I'm about ready to go to the HTC One X if the GS3 I receive today has the same problem this one has. This is an issue I'm not interested in dealing with.

It shouldn't be this hard to get good battery life so 2 handsets, factory reset and the issue persists then perhaps your locale + sgs3 + at&t just isn't a good fit.

Its not worth the anguish of trying to get to the bottom of it. If you've tried all you can, maybe the HOX is the way forward

IDK ....My Note was fine, zero issues with the Battery. And I've always had really good at&t service at Home and around the NYC Metro area. Plus my lady is seeing great battery life. I really think its hit or miss, and Samsung is to blame for a nonsense issue like this.

When im at home i have wifi on 24/7 yes, data i have turned off almost all of the time, unless im somewhere and badly need to check something and have no wifi in sight.

What i dont really get is that i have been sick for a few days now, been at home and have used the phone pretty much 100% the same both days, yesterday it was at 17% left by this time, today its around 50-55%, its not a huge deal, i mean as long as it can hold charge while im at work etc, it just goes in the charger when i get home.

Just for the hell of it i left my OLD iphone 3g on after a full charge and the damn thing lasts uses about 15-20% battery in 24h, granded thats when not using it at all, but wifi is on but with no sim card. thats still around 5 days, but then again older hardware etc etc.

Hoping for a future update to maybe fix some of the issues, but lets see!
