I bought this phone almost a week ago and I heard the Jelly Bean update rolled out to most devices in July but I still never received the update. I live in Canada and my carrier is Wind Mobile.
The VZW Nexus and Sprint GNex probably won't get JB any time soon considering how long it took for the VZW Nexus to get the 4.0.4 update.

I don't want to root my phone to get the update cuz my previous android phone ****ed up a lot before when I flashed custom roms and even though I managed to fix it I still don't want to risk bricking my brand new Galaxy Nexus from rooting it.

While I understand your concerns and find your reasons valid, I also want to point out that this doesn't involve custom ROMs. Instead, the software is the official Nexus factory images downloaded directly from Google.
Which one do I download? Yakju, Takju or Mysid? Or can I download any of them?
Never rooted my phone in years... Does the phone slow down when you root it like on iPhone? And are there any cons to rooting besides voiding your warranty and possibly bricking your phone? If not then I guess I'll root my Galaxy Nexus but can someone send me a link to how to root and flash the official Jelly Bean rom?

Takju is the US version for the GSM i9250, Yakju is the International GSM (non-USA) version for the i9250, mysid is the version for CDMA versions i515 (Verizon).
The primary difference between takju and yakju is that takju includes Google Wallet, which only works in the US.
So I should download the Yakju version right? Do you know a good app that can back up ALL my data before I root my phone?
Yes, you want yakju. I don't know backup apps well, someone else can likely give you better advice. Your information stored with Google (contacts, apps, etc.) is automatically backed up by Google.

Haven't actually used this method (well, I used it but I never restored from it) but it should back up all your apps + app data only. Other things you have to worry about are your pictures/videos and any downloaded files (just backup the /sdcard/ partition and you can copy those back over via USB), and your text message history (there are apps that claim to help here). Most other things like your contacts list will be synced to your Google account and automatically grabbed once you sign in again.Anyone tried backing up with this method before? www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CFYQFjAA&url=http://www.tested.com/news/feature/3537-how-to-back-up-apps-and-data-from-your-galaxy-nexusno-root-required/&ei=Bj8sUK6SK4mN6QH1nYHgCg&usg=AFQjCNHsIqfnqrHByz0F9ZM10SCmYndvRQ&sig2=VXjX387liVZf_T1X5xX2wA
I just received my phone today and it came with ICS. 5 minutes after getting that setup, the update was on my phone and ready for me to restart to proceed. I'm on T-Mobile (US) so it's the Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ (GSM) version.
Hey Mogeljik. How do I flash the rom that you told me to download?
I had a link back in this post, but so you don't have to go back, here is another link to the instructions.
