ISo I stopped by to talk to my local "VZ Guy" and went to his station in the back and he was busy with another customer. So I went to the other 4 employees that were milling around behind the desk and asked so I've got some questions about new phones coming out and almost simultaneously they said "We don't have/carry the Nexus One!". So I close my eyes and tilt my head back and then say "I know that you don't sell the Nexus One and wouldn't come here to ask you about it." So one guy pipes up (who I've talked to before when the Droid came out and has been a pretty cool guy) and says "Are you talking about the 'snapdragon CPU. phone' The Incredible" so I say "Yes". The other three kind of back away and so I start telling him that my usual buddy who I've gotten info from (the one that was helping the costumer) was telling me about it on the 12 of March. Meanwhile y buddy got done with the customer and the current guy I was talking to asked my buddy "hey do you have more info on the Incredible?". At that point I walkover and talk to my buddy. the other people piped in a few times when he started talking about release times and I just kept telling them that I wasn't as interested about release dates. but perhaps some release specs. Any way this is getting to hard to keep up the conversational style so I'll just list points.

1.Why no CTIA announcement: Because of the MotoDroid coming out not that long ago. It would have killed any sales they hoped to have with it and it is the most purchased Android phone thus far. You don't kill your cash Cow till it stops producing milk. Basically it was a difficult business decision. which to any one who's been involved in project management it makes perfect sense.

2 Specs: Nothing we haven't already heard but that it was amazing (dare I say "Incredible") (I had to It was getting a little bit too serious.)

3.Hows the testing going: his contact hasn't told him anything other than it's a great phone and he's had no complaints.

4.Release Date: He's seen a few execs wit hit but that it's being kept pretty tight to the vest. Imminent though, "Weeks" wer his words. Then he said "Perhaps mid-April early-May".

5. The Box (not to start any fights): I told him our little fiasco and his reply was "that makes sense me sense since that kind of box should only have gone to a store that has execs on site. So it would have made the Rep look incompetent that it got shipped to another site and that some Exec was waiting for his new 'Perk phone'."

Hope that helps

I'm sure that I forgot some details which I'll drop in when I remember them.

cliffnotes: I got nothing....:p:rolleyes:

Beautiful info, thanks for the effort.

E: What I got from this is that the phone is finished, and they want to milk the Droid for a little bit longer before releasing a phone that is greater. If all this is true, expect to see a little rise in Droid advertisement, then finally once they've waited as long as they can, an announcement and release of the Incredible. Again, like I said in one of my earlier posts, I would expect the announcement and release of this phone to be very close to each other. Must keep the new product fresh on the minds of the public.

Thanks for the information, I am getting super geeked about this phone. And just to poke a little fun (not being serious :)) You ran that through a spell checker :)?

That doesn't make sense, it's 2 different types of phone, Motorola Droid has keyboard, Incredible doesn't. Both phones attract two different crowds. I'm sure if they released the Incredible, the Moto. Droid would still sell.

Also, these stories that include extra detail like "So I close my eyes and tilt my head back and then say" makes it seems the whole thing is bullsh!t which probably is.

I wonder if maybe it's because the Droid attracts more of a technical crowd, which could easily be distracted by a better spec'd device. Just my thoughts.

True, but the specs alone of the Incredible would still pull a lot of people from the Droid. I had a Storm1 before switching over to the Tour, and I then realized how much I actually missed a physical keyboard. The Moto Droid would then seem like a perfect phone for me, and I actually considered getting it when it released, but then I did a little research and found the Incredible. Point is, as much as this phone does (or is SPECULATED to do), it puts all other phones in the dust. And some people are more attracted to having the biggest and baddest phone regardless of if it has a physical keyboard. (I am one of those people. :D)

I'm sure majority of the VerizonWireless users don't care about specs.

They can make fun of me all they want. I'm cool - I'm over it. People can believe me or not, I don't care - hell, I was there when the fat rep went apeshit, so I know what happened!

I believe your story...I mean...crazier things happen in life...I don't understand why some people think his story is so far fetched...

I'm NOT trying to flame up any hot spots, but that was the point that I tried to make yesterday - the reason the rep didn't come there LOOKING for the box in the backroom. He was back there for a few minutes before he saw it - he didn't know it was there!! I wasn't in the room when he spotted it, but I can only assume that when he spotted it, that's what set him off. HTC had shipped the box to the wrong store. (Again, believe me or not, I don't care - I'm over the BS and I'm not going to lower myself to those levels again).

Oh, and have a nice day! :)

You'd be surprised how many "normal" people can get attached to specs like having an 8MP camera. Sure they have no clue what a 1Ghz processor can do, or what available RAM and ROM means, but things like screen size, camera specs, those grab attention. And this phone will certainly grab attention.

;) It was a quick spell check. . . lol
I'm also not an English major. I thought of 100 different ways to write it up, on my way home, and as you can see it cam out in two different ways. It was taking too long to write it up in conversational format and I kept forgetting stuff. I was going t o re-write it but then I just figured ahhh what the heck you will all get the idea. . .

Personal Opinion:

I think the countdown of the BOGO smart phone is the best indicator of something happening. I know someone earlier said that it has been disproven, but....The Droid was released the day after a BOGO ended, remember?

If it's happening soon, my bet is 4/1. It's the end of the first quarter AND the end of a BOGO deal.
*Considering that we haven't seen any ads yet, I'm thinking an ANNOUNCEMENT on the 1st, and a release date a few weeks later...which fits with other's reports of mid-late April*

No worries, I was just giving you a hard time. Your point and information came out loud and clear and is much appreciated :).
