Hey guys/gals. So a new problem has arose today. :( I'd like to start off by saying that I've had no issues with my evo whatsoever. I keep it in an otterbox defender 24/7 and I have never dropped my phone. So today I figured I would take the phone out of the defender to wipe any dirt off of it that may have gotten past the case. I turned my phone off. Cleaned the phone with a microfiber cloth and put it back in the case. I then tried to power on the device and no dice. Plug it into power and no led showing charging. Plug it into my Toshiba thrive to see if it recognizes is via USB. Nothing. After about a half hour of power button pressing it fired up and acted as normal. Well now I'm curious.. And concerned so I turn it off.. And once again doesn't want to turn on. The battery is full. What the heck is going here? :( :banghead:

I haven't looked at it much, I saw some metal back there on it that I thought had something to do with the antenna.

Yeah I was under the same impression. But I found a thread where EarlyMon told someone that they had better make sure the back cover was on right bc something having to do with the power button had to line up  Ahh this is Seriosuly just my luck. Lol

I have had mine turn off while in a conversation and then take quite some time before it would turn on again. Took to local Sprint store yesterday after second incident and it would not turn on the they keep trying and finally she fired up. they checked on internet and said it is mentioned on the Sprint site and is probably a software bug which may be fixed in a future release.

Next time it happens, once you get it on, hold the power button for a good 10 seconds, same thing as a battery pull.

Ok so your saying next time it happens where I can't get it to turn on after u finally get it to power on force it into a soft reset?

Btw after switching fast boot off everything seems Ok.. Takes a few seconds longer to turn on but hey at least it's firing up.. I'd hate to have to get a replacement when this phone has been generally good to me

So far everything seems normal... With fast book on or off looking good. If it happens again I'll let you all know... Phewwwww that scared me. Hopefully it was just a glitch :D

Is it possible that since I had fast boot on that when I powered the device off something was working in the background which didn't allow it to power back on until I waited a bit? Just trying to understand what happened lol... Curiosity.. You know the rest... Haha

I woke up this morning and pulled my phone off the charger to find it refuses to wake up/turn on now. All I have is a steady green led. I don't have another phone with which to call Sprint and their chat feature is not available right now. I'm looking for any assistance until I can get to a sprint store.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

ps I saw 3vodroid's thread but this doesn't seems like the same thing. I don't power mine off when it charges overnight and he reported no led on when it wouldn't power-up.

So on my 6th try at doing a soft boot(holding button down for 10 seconds) it finally rebooted. I will disable fastboot but would still like any input as to why this may have occurred.

It does sound like we are having different, but somewhat similar issues and they both have seemingly fixed themselves. But I also am really wondering that the heck happened. I turned fast boot off and now since I'm curious I turn my phone on and off just to make sure the issue is gone and so far so good....

Did you do the 10 seconds hold while on?

Not sure it works if not.

I think it was tied into having fastboot on. Similar issues were discussed on the xda forums too and they said to disable fastboot. I haven't had the problem since.. But I have to admit I was scared. Lol

The problem is that the phone won't turn on after you willingly and normally turn it off... I also noticed that when I I had fast boot on I would turn my phone off and then it would power itself back on.. I did some research about the fastboot feature but I don't fully understand it honestly. Good thing is now that it is toggled off all issues are gone

So I was in the middle of a phone conversation and the same thing happened to me too today. Battery was at about 80%. The phone was kinda warm not hot. I had a bluetooth headset on w/ MortPlayer Music running (Been having all sorts of problems w/ MortPlayer and bluetooth connectivity). The phone went black and wouldnt power back on. I tried the 10 second "battery pull" method. NOthing. Took it to Sprint and the guy there said because it wouldnt light up when he plugged it in their chargers that I had to get a new phone. Just tried the 10 sec power button hold again after about 4 hours and it worked again. One thing though, during the time it wasnt functioning, there was a tiny red light coming from where the sensor is on the face of the phone. Wierd. I wonder if I should just swap out this phone for the one thatll be coming to Sprint for me on Tuesday.

Fwiw mine wouldn't turn back on AFTER I willingly turned it off.. It didn't just go black. The fix for me was fastboot being on. Your issue sounds similar but a little different. If it were me I'd ride it out, see if it does it again. But since they already have a replacement coming for you. That ones up to you my friend.
