I'm not sure if your guys are aware of this but flip cases with magnets can turn off the screen when you close them.

Unfortunately for a case I've just bought it also turns off the screen of when I flip the cover around the back of the device which is very annoying.

I don't really want to use the N7 with the flap bit hanging off so would really love to disable this "feature". Is that possible?

Check with the vendor. Another vendor (possibly the same one) is offering free replacements for the magnet too strong issue.

Wow, wasn't aware my N7 had a feature to smart-off to me :D Kidding :)

Not aware of anything right now that would disable that. Maybe a feature in future ROMs but of course you would need to root.

Yeah, it's something you could do with cases on the iPad, unfortunately it seems Google copied them.

Basically if your flip case has a magnet or magnetic strip it will turn the screen off when it gets too close to the tablet. :(

It's Yoobao, but I think just get a refund from the supplier because it's also a really bad fit, screen and camera don't look centred.

Goes to show spending extra doesn't always mean you get a quality product.

The first case I ordered (casecrown) was enroute when I got an email saying it was defective because of the magnet shutting it down when the case was open all the way so they said they will send me another one that didn't do that. Well I have both cases and they both shut the N7 down when fully open. With the 2nd (CaseCrown Ace Flip Case) though I don't have to fully open it to hold it so it works.http://www.amazon.com/CaseCrown-Google-Built-magnet-feature/dp/B008K9TSG0

Actually this was a feature RIM introduced on the BlackBerry long before Apple used it.

It's just natural development of useful features, something Apple is currently tying to stamp out in the courtroom. This post is another example of Apple taking a feature and marketing it well some people think they invented it!

Marketing it well? I never even knew the feature existed until I searched for it today and found threads from iPad users.

I don't really care who invented the feature, Whoever invented it can shove it. :p

To each their own. I ordered the YooMee case and the automatic sleep/wake function makes it almost perfect. I disabled the lock so when I open the case, the home screen comes on, ready to use. I've had NO problems with folding the case back on itself. Never a false sleep.

I have the Yoomee case also and have never got the sleep/wake working. I even got a replacement and no go. It does have a zagg screen on it, but I don't want to take it off since it payed so much for it. Does anyone have a screen protector on their N7 and have gotten this to work? Or is my N7 defective?
