Warranty and The Droidi

I can feel my Droid slowly getting worse everyday and I'm afraid its lifespan won't reach the average life expectancy. If my phone breaks, even though I didn't pay that extra few dollars a month for the warranty, can I get a new phone? (Verizon phones usually have a one year warranty but I'm not sure what it covers.) Has anyone ever gotten a new Droid successfully after breaking it?

I just got a replacement droid, as mine was getting so hot it bubbled the battery cover, ruined the car charger, and even the screen had a weird melted spot on it. The phone was 100% stock no root, nothing. It was explained to me that if your phone is found to be defective from normal use, the original 12 month warranty applies. So my replacement will be warrantied until 1/12/10, which will be one year from when I got the new Droid. So if you have the phone replaced after 11 months of ownership, your replacement will only have a one month warranty.

Many VISA cards come with a service that extends the warranty for a full year beyond the manufacturer's one-year warranty. This will give you two years of coverage at no extra charge. You can even pay VISA to extend the warranty out to five years if you want. I recently made a claim on a TV that broke in year two and VISA sent me a check for the original cost of the TV.

I have probs with my headphone jack and am sending it in to motorola directly. I returned one to verizon already (in the 30 day window). Manufacturing defects are covered under the oem warranty, not sure how long though.

One year unless you have an extended warranty through your credit card company like skip suggested. You can get it fixed/replaced under the oem warranty at a Verizon store as well and shouldn't have to send it in to Motorola.
