Most reliable laptops?

I need some help shopping for a new laptop and I was wondering what brands are currently considered the most reliable these days? I'll be shopping for a 17" in the under $1000 range. Windows 7. If 19" is possible at that price range I will look at that also. My top priority is reliability though. Thanks!

I've had my dell for 4+ years.

I also like Asus, their customer support is quite nice. I had an issue with a power supply for my netbook, called 'em up and they sent a new one my way. No cost. Didn't even have to send in the old one!

for me i like toshiba, asus, and samsung. i have a toshiba for about 3yrs now and it runs like it is still brand new! whatever you do, do not get a sony vaio. they suck. i have had two hardrives and one screen fail on me.

I buy corporate Dell laptops. Latitudes, slightly used. They last much better than consumer Dell laptops.

I prefer to buy corporate computers also. They are better than consumer systems. The last laptop I bought was 3 years ago, actually it was a bday present, an Acer Aspire One. But I'm looking to sell it and get me a tablet.

for me i like toshiba, asus, and samsung. i have a toshiba for about 3yrs now and it runs like it is still brand new! whatever you do, do not get a sony vaio. they suck. i have had two hardrives and one screen fail on me.

I've been doing a lot of research that supports Asus and Toshiba being on top of reliability ratings for quite a long run now, so I think I'm going to narrow my search to one of those

I hate Toshiba's. I got one as an insurance replacement. So cheap feeling and flimsy compared to my latitude. Slower than the 3 year old Dell of the same spec it replaced too. Cheap components

I though HP were good, until mine had its hard drive die in just under a year, and not long after the power button had to be replaced and about a year later on an identical laptop (the other halfs) her whole motherboard went due to lead less solder issues, then mine finally went and needed a mobo replacement due to the graphics going (probably soldering issue again)

Not had a single problem with our two samsung laptops yet in their first year.

in the $400 - $500 dollar range, look at Best Buy's selection of Samsung and Toshiba laptops with the i3 processor. A lot of people are surprised to see second and third gen i3 processors, coupled with larger laptops, for those prices.

I got my Toshiba Satellite C675-S7106 for $400 this spring. It has 500 gigs storage, 4 gigs RAM (sorry, can't upgrade that), a second gen i3, HD 17.3" screen, numpad on the keyboard, 64 bit Windows 7. And Best Buy will always throw in six months of Kaspersky for you. The current models also include hdmi out. I wish I had waited one month for that, but I didn't know.


Even if you don't want to buy from Best Buy, I'd still recommend looking at those. If you like the laptops, but not Best Buy, I'm sure somebody will honor their prices if you need.
