ok, so i will post there here with the hopes to set some things straight about these phones....

i am now on my 6th evo v 4g. 3 have been from BB with virgin branding and 2 have been from RS with sprint branding.

all 6 of them have the mms/fluctuation signal issue. one phone was not better than the other, all of them suck

all 6 have light leak around the bottom 1/4 of the glass

all 3 virgin branded phones back piece does not fit properly, ie gaps around edges especially corners, power and volume buttons are either WAY to easy or WAY to hard to press to get to work.

all 3 sprint phones did NOT come with the factory installed screen protector, all 3 virgin phones DID come with factory installed screen protector

all 3 sprint phones battery try "creeked" when squeezed, the battery seemed "smaller" than the virgin phones battery which set firmly in the battery tray.

there ARE software differences between them.....

sprint phones would not update the PRL past 60007
virgin phones would update to 60008 right out of the box, and 1 even updated to 60009 (my first one)

and this one is odd...

the stock browser on the virgin phones will not highlight the URL at the top when you click on it. you must click, hold, select all, then backspace or start typing. on the sprint phone, when you click on the URL the whole string is highlighted automagically so you can just start typing in the web address you want to visit.

i am returning my 6th one within the week unless an update is rolled out. i will be switching to the tmobile 4g prepay plans since i can actually get 4g with them at my home.

whats messed up is i live in a Minneapolis suburb and there is WiMax all over here, except on the west side of the cities and there is absolutely 0 coverage. which is where i happen to live and work.

this phone has such good potential but has been a huge letdown for me

FWIW, my Sprint-branded Evo V, purchased at Radio Shack less than a week after release, did have a screen protector and the battery did (and still does) seat firmly, to the point that gravity alone will not make it fall out. It came with PRL 61007, immediately updated to 61008, and later updated to 61009. And I've only gotten the texting error twice.

My Sprint branded Evo Pre ordered from RS updated the prl to 61008 the very first day and subsequently to 61009, so that's a non issue. Also I have just received a warranty replacement battery from Virgin and there is absolutely no discernible difference in size, creaking or any other metric between them.

here is a pic of your non issue

i dont know why or care but some sprint branded ones do not update the prl.my virgin branded one did so it isnt my area like someone tried to say before.

and yes there was a thread about this

glad its a non issue for you. you may want to go buy a lottery ticket.

not everyone is getting updates is my point.

as far as the battery size issue, i personally believe that the RS Sprint branded ones i had may have had faulty batteries because all of them had a creek when slightly squeezing the back panel and even when the panel was off if you squeezed the battery, it would creek. no such issue with the BB Virgin branded phones. and there was a minute difference in size and thats all it took to cause the sound.

again, just because YOU didnt have issues doesnt mean there arent any.

been there, done that. the only issue i ever had with the MT was the dust getting under the screen WAY to easy, and the back cover that came off to easy as well. who ever designed that back cover was an idiot.

after my 3rd phone i gave up on it and switched to Boost and stayed with the LG Marquee for a long time.

then i switched back to Virgin for this phone only to be extremely disappointed.

You're the one that stated that Sprint branded phones would not do a prl update, I was merely pointing out that as a blanket statement that it's most certainly a non issue. I also pointed out the fact that my Sprint branded phone from RS had no battery issues or creaking even compared to a brand new unit directly from Virgin Mobile. Your post leads people to believe that there may be significant differences between the phones and I merely pointed out that my personal experience doesn't support leaping to these conclusions. I believe that it was more the luck of the draw than any inherent and widespread differences based solely on silk screening. Absolutely no need to stress and get personal dude

get stressed??? personal????

i never claimed my findings as a blanket statement just as my observations.

and what i am merely pointing out is that there ARE differences between a Sprint and Virgin branded Evo V4g's that are being sold.

i dont really care if you agree or disagree with what i say, i know what i noticed is accurate. and obviously others in the post has shown you a screen shot that there sprint phone wont update past 60007.

so again, you are the lucky winner today. did you get that lottery ticket yet?

No, there are no differences in hardware or software between the Sprint and virgin branded phones. Zero, none end of story. This has been confirmed over and over multiple times.

Prl updates don't really matter and are only released in certain regions, with the towers included in the prl.

From your post it seems you have little to no service in your area. This would effect both being able to receive prl updates and having signal fluctuations.

I've had Sprint branded and VM branded Evo v's. The PRL for the Sprint branded phone was 61009 after one or two updates before it died of unknown causes (probably a surge while it was charging). The VM branded phone came with PRL version 61008 and reported no updates were available however it updated on its own to version 61009 after I reset the phones network settings by typing ##CLEAR# into the phone keypad.

What can I say? Nothing is perfect. This phone was made by humans so don't expect pefection or you'll never be happy.

All the problems can be fixed. What's funny is that almost every phone I've owned either had to be updated by the maker of the phone or the dev community stepped in and fixed the problems. So many people post these problems and complain about them and I can understand and appreciate their being up front about the problems but Leslie Ann and others have worked hard to fix these problems and I have tried my best to help direct people to the fix all thread. I understand that your having problems and we all know what's going on with the phone but to me being a fellow EVO owner with the same problems which are now fixed thanks to Leslie Ann and others these posts are becoming redundant. If you are not happy with the phone return it or fix it. I understand your trying to be helpful but pointing out the same thing over and over when there is a fix is just not good moral for are forum. Not trying to be mean by any means. I wish you and others the best of luck.;)

That's great for you but what about the people in that thread that it doesn't work for.

Then like I said in my previous post fix it and if you can't return it and if that's not an option sell it. I'm curious as to why the fix works for some and not others. Can you explain in further detail what you have tried?

think i need to make myself much clearer when i post.i said it before about this issue and i will say it again.i expect something i buy to work out of the box.i know i am in the minority but thats the way i am.i am not willing to risk bricking my phone with the hopes of something may or may not fix it.i also feel i shouldnt have to.now if you really want to know why the fix doesnt work for everyone why not ask those in that thread that are still getting the errors.

i said this before and i will say it agin i dealt with this for one reason and that was unlimited 4g but since my wi-max became wi-edge i see no more reason to deal with it.i found out metro quietly released lte in my area and even though their lte is very slow it gave me an alternative.

once vm ends the sale on the evo i will be selling mine but until then i wont simply because i will lose to much money.

Well, I never heard your explanation. The guide is super easy. I did it in a matter of 30 minutes tops. As long as you fallow it step for step your fine. I'm always lurking in that thread and most of the problems are with things not sticking and people saying its not working when they just don't realize what's going on before jumping to conclusions and assuming it just simply didn't work. You didn't answer my question... What have you done? What are your pri, prl, radio listed as?
