using a UK Galaxy SII on Verizon in USA

Hi everybody!

So just a quick question, can I use my unlocked Samsung Galaxy SII purchased on Vodafone in the UK on the Verizon network in the USA?

I purchased the phone in the UK when I came here to study, and I will be going back home soon. When I leave I will have paid off the contract and they give me the unlock code to use on any network.

I know that this phone is a GSM phone and not a CDMA phone, but my understanding is Verizon is now accepting GSM phones on their network, right?

I am thinking of doing the $50 unlimited monthly plan and just pay as I go, instead of doing a contract right away.

But, I need to make sure this phone will work properly on the network.

Please advise me!

Many Thanks,

Cody

great, thanks for the link! It just sucks cuz I really like my samsung Galaxy S2 and I wanted to use it on Verizon. That is the network I had before moving to England. And why I decided to use Vodafone here, since Vodafone owns Verizon.

So how good is AT&T? Would this phone work on their network? How do I know if it is a 4g phone?

Ok. Good food for thought.
Thanks again for the reply.
Looks like I'm stuck on AT&T then if I want to keep this phone.
Stupid differing technologies worldwide!

I hear you. I travel quite a bit and that's why I've stuck with AT&T. Their GSM phones seem to work better in more places, but in any single location they are not the best performing phones.
