SackBoy bootanimation

I found a nice little sackboy animation but changed it so it would say android 2.1
( I liked how the 2.1 is shaking so I left it,if you don't like if you can fix it.)

NO NEED FOR ROOT!!!
just put the bootanimation.zip in your data/local folder
with this command

adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

If you have root you can use root explorer instead of adb. And instead of installing to data/local root users can install it to system/media.

If you don't have root use the instructions on the first post.

So how would one go about getting adb for linux? Specifically Sabayon (which is based off Gentoo)

Have you tried that or did it not work for you?

So that gives me the Android SDK and AVD manager(which is working btw). How would I go about putting something like a custom boot screen on my phone?

Same as in windows but I think the commands are a little different by just typing

./adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

Give that a try see if it works I haven't used Linux in a while so I'm not entirely sure.

I actually got it working, but instead of fighting with Sabayon, I switched distros to Ubuntu. Which it seems anything and everything is written for. Anyway, this post on xda helped. Followed it to the T, got it all working.

Hey guys. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I really don't know much about this stuff so I just tried to follow the instructions. As you can see, I have Sync installed and my phone is connected. I put the zip file in the tools folder and then copied the commands to try and push the animation to my phone. Where did I go wrong??

I think you haver the wrong thing downloaded what you need is android sdk which could be faiths here Android SDK | Android Developers
Just click the link and then download the sdk that corresponds with your OS.
