iphone 5 vs Galaxy S3?

Define better exactly. Will it have the same old tired out Apple GUI that's been there for eons now? Yes it will and fanbois will sing its praises because of the lack of change.

It should like many of its Android brethren, support 4G LTE and it sounds like it at have NFC enabled on it.

It will of course have a different connection port nessesitating all new hardware. It will have a few features that Android used to have before Apple sued them, and it will have, of course a major reason for fanbois worldwide to drop major coin on it - it'll sport an Apple badge

Whatever Apple fires up now consider Google/others having many of the same new features on phones for sale around the Christmas holidays

Well, RickyDavis1051, you are asking this question in an Android forum, which pretty much will get the expected responses from most folks here, however, if you ask this same question in an Apple forum, you will get the other side of the coin.
Use your own best judgement about whether Apple or Android suits your needs/wants best.;):)

oh and let me remind you, the iPhone 5 will cost an arm and a leg compared to the S3 and people will line up in ques like dummies with their cash ready to buy it as if it were the last / best smartphone in the world when all it would be is an over priced iToy that forces you to use iTunes to copy an MP3 song to the phone which by itself needs some online training courses thanks to Apple's crappy software!

just my 2 cents

I like Apple products but I'm not excited for the iPhone 5 considering iOS 6 was a big disappointment.

I agree with this. I've owned each iPhone as well as an HTC Hero, atrix 2, Inspire and my GS3. I went back to Android with the Galaxy because ios6 really offered me NOTHING new over what I was doing on my Hero in 2009. I've found myself moving back to my Windows/Linux boxes, Android tablets and phones. IOS has become stale for us who want to tweak and change. For mass consumers though, the consistency of the same old OS is great. I would never suggest my mother to move from the iPhone to Android because it would kill her.

same here. I got suckered into the apple junk. Its all on the way out of the home however. Back to android and windows for me. Cheap great devices that "just work better". Apple is a marketing empire. All fluff and flash and no substance.

Perfect quote, all fluff and no substance. The s3 is my ever first smartphone. I spened weeks deciding if i should wait for the iphone 5 or get the s3. I am so glad i chose the s3. The iphone 5 is gonna cost an arm and a leg, screen wont be that big, and chances are the phone wont be that big of an impovement from the 4s. The iphone is more of a cool status phone. Although im not afraid or excited of the iphone 5, ill be honest im am curious.

We already know about what most of the OS us going to be so I'm not expecting anything major.

The fanbois however will proclaim it as the best phone ever to be created and how it will, with a single glance of its mighty retina eye, strike down Android and all that follow it.

Apple did a great (well awesome) job at the 1st and 2nd iPhone, they revolutionized the phone industry.

If it was not for that we most likely would not have what we have today.

Now in saying this I love my mac computers, nothing compares.

For phones tho, apple has to get off its A!! and start innovating again, I see nothing (well, absolutely nothing) that wows me with ios 6, matter in fact when I had my iPhone 4 and 4s, all I said is where are the 4.5" screens, this 3.5" squint box was good for the 1st iphone but NOT FOR TODAY.

I laugh all the time when seeing people squint at their iphones, and even at the rumored 4" iphone 5 DOES NOT CUT IT!

At first, I loved my iphone 4 then I tried to customize it by jailbreaking it (yes i got bored with it looks, very quickly), only to find out, most all themes slows the iphone down to a crawl at times and unstable as he!! (random reboots into safe mode, slow access to get to the phone dialer, and slow access answering the phone, all random but aggravating because it did these when I needed the phone most) (I tried lots of themes also, with no luck, for the entire year I left android).

Then came the 4s, that was hyped to be twice as fast or faster, I got one, but only when my wife said she wanted an iPhone, so she took my 4 and I purchased the 4s (64 gig version).

A week later the jailbroke came out for the 4s and boy was I surprised ........... to find out the 4s was actually just slightly faster than the 4, and SAME SHI!, same problems with themes also, and siri for me worked about 40% (or less) of the time (I mean actually understood and found the info) what a hyped up phone that was!

Now that leads us to the iphone 5, going to be super hyped up just like the rest, super fast 20x faster, bla, bla, bla, and NO CUSTOMIZATION AT ALL (unless you call changing wallpaper customization) , then you have to wait 3+ months for a jailbreak.

With the galaxy siii, I have a fast, 2gig, 32gig storage, big screen, ect.... that I have not even found a need to root it.
I have moving wallpapers (the 4s would run like crap with something similar, it was like going back to the original moto droid 1)

Now i'm starting to think that apple is just going to do this forever now and just take everyone to court and get money out of everyone else, for years.

I understand some of these patents, but most are just stupid, if you or I made one, I will guarantee all these big guys would just use it and we would not have the money to back ourselves so ....
Just how many different patents can you make on a wheel? It is round, everything else is just fluff and greed.

Of course this is the way I look at all this and this is bound to differ from person to person, until we are told we cant think anymore (of course this may be coming also)

I am not feeling it.

I've had every iPhone from the original to 4 and decided to skip the 4S because it had nothing that seemed worth the upgrade. I held out hope that the 6 would bring something major with it and have been hugely disappointed with everything I've seen. Granted that is all based on rumor and what I saw with all the rumors surrounding the 4S have shown me to wait and see but I don't feel a since of excitement that I have in the past for Apple. iOS6 doesn't bring any major changes except removal of Google Maps and YouTube (neither of which bothers be mind you. Maps is being replaces and as long as I can get from A to B I am good and I cannot stand to watch videos on a mobile screen) but nothing that makes me see the worth of paying $300 to $500 or more for the new iPhone. It's that lack of excitement and feeling of getting my dollars' worth that has brought me to look at Android and the S3.

I still love my Macbook and OSX, will still use my iPhone 4 as an iPod most likely but I just don't see a reason to spend $400 or so on an upgrade that isn't much of an upgrade.

Let's look it at it from another perspective. Apple had the time to see what the S3 was all about and add their own stuff to it. Like the old proverb states, he who laughs last laughs best. Also, without any disrespect I don't think anyone lost a "limb" over the S3 Report: Chinese teenager sells kidney to buy iPhone, iPad - Los Angeles Times
Also, how come when a new android hits the market, nobody ever compares it to say a windows phone or a blackberry? It's always this and that vs the iPhone.
Remember kids, don't sell your body parts...
