One quirk that I will note & y'all can tell me if any of you are experiencing this too- when I power down the phone and then again on powering up, I get a notification ringtone just once each time. Does it have something to do with unmounting/mounting the SD card (seems to coincide somewhat with the notification popping up in the bar as I shut down/boot up), and if so, is there anything that can be done to silence it? I was so happy to find the instructions to silence the awful VM boot animation (did it when I first got the phone & rooted but forgot how) and would prefer a completely silent reboot if possible.
It is the sdcard being (un)mounted. You could put the phone in silent mode before power down.
You need to make sure that you delete the com.android.phone_preferences.xml.bak file, and also make sure the changes stuck in the file before you reboot. If you don't reboot it will stay *86 in the notification but it will still dial your number, from what I've seen messing around. I would suggest retrying and double check everything. I haven't tested it but looking at the files, you should be able to use the file from the Sharp ROM if you backed it up. Hope this helps.Hey BSydz,
I'm having trouble applying the voicemail fix. After making the changes to com.android.phone_preferences.xml and rebooting I noticed that the /data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs reverted back to what it was originally. I also noticed that all partitions are mounted as rw by default but no changes will stick. Any suggestions? I was able to apply the voicemail fix to your sharp rom, which by the way was awesome, but I can't get it to work on the u9000 rom. Please help.
Thank you for the kind words.Pure genius. Bsydz...you might be the only hope to get fully fuctioning gb and ics roms...since it seems most devs dumped all work to hop on evo 4g...thanks a lot...i will test any and all projects you need help on...im no dev but i make a good test monkey...keep up the awesome work!
Basically, you could do that. I just finished putting together my custom kernels for both ROMs and have updated the second posts with the original kernels. So you can just snag it from there.Bsydz,
If i wanted to just flash the stock U9000 kernel in the future without reflashing the entire ROM, could I modify the updater-script file to just install the kernel? If so, what lines would I need to keep? I know for sure I'd need the following:
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p5")
Is that it?
Thanks!
So with your new kernel knowlege am guessing you could make a kernel for a slightly modifed stock gingerbread from a x6 variant and port it to our triumph?
Yes that is the only phone I have. I figure it will give me some good practice at figuring out errors while working with source code. My only source code knowledge is a few things I read a couple years ago, but got busy and never pursued them. I didn't go to school for this stuff at all, never even had a computer class in school, l kinda only went to HS for about 5 months. KIDS, STAY IN SCHOOL!!! I did go to college when I was 17 though, for a couple years. Anyway, it's something that I've been wanting to do, and when I jacked up my phone it kinda led me down this road. Once I find something I want to figure out, it kinda eats at me. Hopefully I can help on CM10, but right now I'm just figuring it out myself. Are you tryin to build cm10 for triumph?
I put the Sharp 2.3.5 build.prop up as an experiment, try the thunder.prop to see if that helps. I noticed on the Sharp ROM that it cleared up a few issues with the play store cause Gapps were not included, so Sharp 2.2.2 is not a registered google device.I am now only using this rom its better than sharp rom because it has a more stock feel to it and no extra apps besides facebook and twitter!
I flashed the 2.3 sharp build prop you posted for this rom but dont see any advantages to that... the play store still does not let me use apps that are only compatiable with 2.3+ whats the purpose of those build.props? I know im a noob hah
I'm loving this ROM. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
