so dak
so, ive run the exploit in odin and had no success. Odin shows that it was successful and all the steps laid out in the guide happened flawlessly until the part where it says to boot into recovery. Now, im a seasoned rooter and know to d/l the .tar file again, reboot the computer, resinstall the drivers, try a diff usb cable and port etc etc etc, so, no noob bullshit here, my device status shows modified, but the recovery is still stock. The only thing i havent tried is a different computer (yet, and i stress "yet") ive even done the process as laid out in the supplied youtube video, step by step... im just at a loss at this point. anyone else experienced this issue also yet? and if so, what did you do to remedy it?

glad to see you over here.

i followed your advise alot on the evo site. you have always been helpful.

i wish i could pay it back to you now but don't know how to help you.

i do have different versions of odin and cwm files if you want them.

i know that some said to use odin 3.04 i used it and 3.06 and 3.07 and they all worked for me.

i am still a big noob at all this so i wont try to offer advise.

just wanted to say thanks and glad you are here.

Right on man! Thanks for the nod and the odin version info :) ill try to get this damn thing rooted so i can get elbow deep and be of assistance instead of in need of it LoL

I watched this video (albeit admittedly whilst drunk) and followed the steps exactly. I have the zip file on the phones internal memory and all that, but i guess ill try to stay sober and do it again LoL

The first time I tried to go into Recovery it took me to the Stock one, I went ahead and rebooted and turned the phone off, waited a minute or two then pulled the battery and when I went back to Recovery it was CWM and was then able to flash zip from card.

I was using Odin 3.04 and the video posted above.

Ill try this too

Also, when you root, the phone will check to see if it has stock recovery installed and will remove it if it's not. There is a zip file you have to flash that removes this check before your first boot after flashing CWM.

I didnt see that as part of the instructions in the video nor the root guide. As far as i knew, you needed to put the cwm zip on the phones internal memory, making sure that the phoes has usb debugging enabled before going into d/l mode (which doesnt make much sense, cuz a setting in the os has nothing to do with the process when its in d/l mode) , put the .tar file in the pda slot in odin, connect the phone, run the exploit, boot into recovery and install cwm from there... or am i tarded?

update: I thought i watched the video provided above, but it was in fact the old one that he refers to in this new one... I am now fully rooted!!!! YAY!!!!
