Double Twist on Samsung GS3

I'm trying to convert over from my iPod to my Galaxy S3, and thought I found my solution in Double Twist. I was dissapointed to find out that Double Twist doesn't support the file transfer protocal that the S3 uses.

To get around that, I simply copied all my music files over to my sd card, and Double Twist recognizes them, which is great. I'm wondering if there's a way I can also copy my playlists over. Can anyone help me out with this?

Have you tried Doubletwist Airsync? I use it everyday to sync my iTunes music with my phone. In fact my PC and my phone are in seperate rooms, and it works great over wifi.

The only pain that I have is that I fire up iTuens to create a Genius list, and then I open Doubletwist and sync it with iTunes and then my phone for a fressh playlist for my workout. It's a minor issue, but I'm hoping someday that Doubletwist will be able to do it all...

I think there are many factors involved, but so far it's working for me. I have over 12,000 songs in my itunes library, so I know it would be futile for me to attempt to sync my whole library to the phone. I don't have enough space on the phone, and it would take to long for the sync. So I just sync playlists for now. A 25 song playlist only takes a couple of minutes to sync. It's quite reasonable for me.

You mentioned in your original post that the S3 was using a different transfer protocol to move files. I don't understand this because it should be using a standard USB connection, which should be a simple file copy, or at the very worst, you would have to drag and drop your files into the proper directory structure to make it work.

Whether you use airsync, or let DT copy the files, over on the USB connection, it's a pretty good program that always seems to get better with each upgrade...

The Galaxy S3 uses MTP as it's USB transfer protocol, and DoubleTwist only supports MCS. So baiscially the method that the S3 uses for USB data transfer is not understood by DoubleTwist.

Yes, I have copied my music files over the G3's usb connection as I stated in my original post, but that does not copy my playlists over, which is what I'm looking to resolve.

How about using WinAmp on your PC? WinAmp can import your iTunes library and playlists, and WinAmp syncs to your Android device via mass storage mode or MTP mode (note that using MTP mode only allows WinAMP to detect the internal storage, but mass storage mode detects both internal storage and external SD card).

And you don't need WinAMP on your phone to do this. Its optional. You only need it for Wireless Sync.

I didn't know about Winamp, so I'm going to look into it to see if the file transfer would be easier and faster.

If you still want to try to make DoubleTwist work, there are several articles on adding MCS to the Galaxy S3. Check this link out for more information on adding the protocol, or Google "samsung galaxy S3 mass storage mode" for more information.

I saw that info on enabling MCS, but depite what it says about root not being required I keep getting the error that it cannot get root acces. Other artcles I found referring to that utility say the phone does need to be rooted.

Same here, sad day.

iSyncr works over MTP through it's desktop server. Integrates great with iTunes, doesn't need another program to copy iTunes music and playlists like WinAMP and DoubleTwist.

I'm having the same problem with my GS3 using DoubleTwist. Tried iSyncr => seems to work great but I do have problems with video playlist. My videos get transferred over from iTunes to my GS3 but there's no player that can recognise the video playlist. iSyncr's Rocket player sees the playlists but says "0 songs" expecting only music and not videos... sigh... I've written in to iSyncr developer.
