Hi all,

Has anyone figured out how to stream movies online for free to this Tablet?

I've tried several sites but most of them want me to download the codec-v plugin. I can download it but then it says i don't have a program to read the downloaded file to install it.

I searched the play store and codec's are only available for certain media players, not the browser.

Am I missing something Here? Or are we unable to stream videos for free online to our tab 10.1?

Many Thanks,
Cody

Only things I've tried so far are Amazon Prime (works reasonably well with Dolphin Browser but not perfect), and an app called Full Classic Movies (or something like that) which links to old films on You Tube. Worked pretty well.
Only other one I've tried is Crackle TV, but don't remember how well it worked.
I chalked up the less than perfect performance with Amazon to my wireless access which is an Apple Airport Express. Works great and hasn't missed a beat since I installed it in March. Just not up to the speeds needed for Amazon I guess.
But anyway, yeah I'd like to watch movies too, but it's not a must for me.
I have a really decent A/V system, full 7.1 audio, two subs, great display, so that'where I do my movie watching.
But there are times when watching something on the tab is fun too.
What are your movie interests? I occassionally look for movie sites, might find something.

Thanks. I am at university and I dont have any of my home theatre stuff here in England, as my stuff is in the US. So the tablet is all I have. :(

Im usually looking to watch newer movies. Anything really, action, adventure, comedy, scifi ect.

I think that what you're missing is that it sounds like you are asking about copyright infringement, an illegal activity and obviously not allowed by our Site Rules.

You can stream free legal movies using the Crackle app. :)

Nope not intending to break site rules. However, Im slightly curious, as rooting a phone isn't legal, but posting about that is acceptable here? Motorola goes through lots of trouble to continually close down ways to access the boot-loader. Im only curious on your thoughts about this, I am in no way trying to get into trouble with this board. I love this message board, so I am only looking for clarification and thoughts on this. :)

Thanks.

Oh, interesting. I guess I just presumed it wasn't legal since Motorola fights it so hard. That is what I get for assuming!!

Thanks!

At least one of the US carriers tried to make not rooting a contract term, that's been thrown out as unconscionable.

Having root is the same exact thing as having Admin access on your PC. Some makers are control freaks.

If you like British tv, you should be able to stream the BBC and some of channel 4, I believe.

Have you tried Netflix there?

HAHA yeah, they need to stop being such control freaks. Some people will always want to customize what they buy.

Yup, I have the bbc iplayer app.

I dont have a netflix account, but I believe it is called love film here. I will have a look into that.

Thanks again for your help!
