Google Navigation via Bluetooth

Is it possible to make google navigation "push" voice commands to the stereo in my car? What I want is to be able to listen to another media source, but have the navigation instructions come over the stereo. I think it might be possible because the phone can "push" other things (like a phone call) to switch the media source.

I'm using an HTC One X w/ 4.0.4 on AT&T, and I have a 2012 VW Jetta with the RCD-310 stereo.

Does your stereo support the media profile?
When connected to the stereo long press its entry in the bluetooth devices list and select options. If it shows a media option and it is not checked then check it. You should then get media streams over the stereo which will include navigation instructions.

I'm sorry, I wasn't descriptive enough. Yes, I can stream music; and while streaming, it interrupts the music to play the navigation instructions. What I would like to do is play music via another media source (ipod plugged into the glove box), and have the navigation instructions interrupt that.

Ah okay.

I suspect that would be down to the feature set of the stereo myself.

When playing music from the iPod does a phone call interrupt the music?

Just installed Field Trip and that exact feature works on Field Trip. When I get a notification, it interrupts my ipod or radio on my car stereo to read the Field Trip notice, but I can't get that same thing to happen with navigation. Google, where are you on this????

I suspect that Field Trip will use the notification stream, rather than the media stream that Navigation uses. I'd expect your stereo to handle them differently.
