Overwhelmed by the HTC Desire

I've been using the phone for an hour or so , just so stunned by everything about it . Have there been any tutorials/guides released for complete beginners?

I can't stress enough just how amazing this phone is - maybe it's because I've been using a sony ericcson walkman phone

The W810i , the really old one. The music is very clear , listened to a couple of tracks . It's just a shame that I have had such a long day and am exhausted , would rather like to stay up all night tinkering with the phone

It'll still be there in the morning and between now and then is sleep. So apart from getting to sleep not a lot to worry about!!

Thanks.. for the fast response... hows the mega bass..? any option for Dolby setting...? BTW am having W960i...

Sorry to say I have no idea about the Dolby settings , only just found the music player . Where would this be on the phone ?

It will ! I've just been setting up my contacts . It's probably the most fun I've had setting contacts . I start typing the name , enter the number etc then it suggests links to social sites ( i.e FB ), it finds them on facebook then suggests taking the information from there - i.e b-day , status updates , display picture .

I managed to get some music on the phone , but am going to dedicate a couple of hours tonight looking on the android market , looking at apps ( no idea where to start with the market place ! ) and sorting out the way my 7 screens are sorted . This should keep me busy for most of the night !

I'm sorry If it makes you feel better , I had the phone yesterday morning and was out till 9pm , I was stuck knowing it was sitting at home and hardly got to use it . That was tough .

I'm sure it'll be there soon though .

I won't be able to use mine properly until my old number has transferred over (expecting it to happen tuesday or wednesday...)

I can still play with it and set it up! My girlfriend might get a bit jealous as the phone will be getting more attention!

How does it handle the contacts already on your sim card? Can you use this information then grab more details from facebook?

I got 300 people on there and dont really want all of em on my phone ha ha

I've got a new number , but my old one is being transferred . Once it syncs with FB/twitter etc then the details of the contacts already are stored somewhere on your phone . I've been adding contact cards , which takes the information from the social sites etc .

Sorry I'm a bit vague , still getting used to everything

It really is an amazing phone. First thing i did to the phone was disable friendstream, facebook sync n stuff because i really dont care about attention seeking status updates.
The battery life isnt too great until you learn how to manage tasks, wifi, gps, etc. I would install Taskiller for this.. has improved battery life a lot!
Very happy with this phone!

Settings > Accounts & Sync. It shows list of accounts that use sync, facebook, stocks, etc. Click on them and Cancel Sync.

If I click on them I only get account settings, go into that and there are diff options for each but no cancel option, may be coz my auto sync is off, is yours on?

I believe you can. I do not have the phone (yet), but was just reading on the TMobile forums that you can 'uncheck' Facebook in your contacts, and it removes you FB contacts.
