Root Live Wallpapers

everyone needs to stop saying moderate to heavy use, cause its bull haha. I get 6 - 8 hrs out of battery, basically no matter what i do! its the way it works. who here gets twitter updates and facebook updates and 3 email account updates and constant friend syncs etc etc etc, plus i have tons of calender updates! I still don't consider that heavy use... heavy use is constant tweeting followed by turning around texting someone and then checking facebook and replying to everything WHILE listening to music and then going to pandora.

can we say this?

My wife uses them...I don't. She doesn't care about performance...I do. :D lol.

Honestly, I wish they were more seamless cause it's a novel idea...I am not crazy about the ones we have available and the ones we have slow down everything on my phone. My wife said here phone was running slow today before I upgraded her ROM (she was running Ultimate Droid at the time) and I killed the LWP's and it instantly sped up. She is running Sexy Nexus LWP now cause...it's pretty! I'll keep the static WP's for my use though.

Do the LWP actually significantly reduce the battery life of the phone cuz when I look at the breakdown of the phone usage I only see the LWP being a couple % like 3%. I might be missing something but logically I do agree that it should chip away at the battery life and processing power.

Have I missed something fundamental about why it is listed at such a low percent even people have reason to believe it eats the battery?

I honestly couldn't tell a noticeable difference in battery drain when the LWP was on or off. It can't drain it too much. I also noticed that the NexusMod Live wallpapers run much smoother on my Droid with Cyanogen than the stock Nexus LWP's.

Very true...the LWP's are better with Cyanogen...but what isn't? :D They have been optimized for the ROM but if you have them enabled...play with it for a day or so and then take them off. If you don't notice a big difference then keep em. The difference was noticeable for me so they are gone...they are not that great in the first place IMO...it is a gimmicky thing but I recognize that some people go for that.

It is just my experience that most notably it affects the speed of screen transitions and the home screen switching from portrait to landscape (or vice versa). Those are more important to me than moving lines in the background.

I like the Nexus LWP (lazer beams) with the dark background. Most of the LWPs on the market suck but there is one Bokeh that is really good but it really bogs down the phone. The "rotating earth" and "flying through stars" LWPs are decent too. I also uploaded the Nextheme and I miss the old water/leaves one because the new one with the turtles at the ocean floor is ugly.
