Replacement Nexus 7. Now what?

Some of you may have read my misadventures and the resulting cracked N7 screen. I'm still trying to get the memory wiped (with no success yet) so I can list it on ebay for parts.

Now that I have another new unit I have a few questions:

1. Do I have to repurchase all the apps that I just bought?

2. There is still a positive balance on Google Play from the original $25.00 credit. I thinks it's around $11.00. Is it lost now? Can I load up my android phone with whats left?

3. Will I get another $25.00 credit for this new unit? Don't care about the movie. I already watched it.

4. Do I continue to use my old GMail account for log in or should I create a new one for this unit?

The new unit is still sitting in the sealed box. I'm not going to power it up until I know for sure how I should initialize the new account.

Thanks guys.

Joe

Log in with your original gmail account. Job done :p

Purchases are tied to your account, not the device. Similarly, your $11 of credit, as well as the free movie and books, are tied to your account, not the tablet.

You account cannot recieve the $25 credit more than once, unfortunately.

Hi Joe,

1 - No. After you've paid for an app you can use it across all devices.

2 - The balance of your credit should be yours to keep. I'm actually still waiting on the refund for my Nexus 7 Google got back on the 7th. I received an email last week saying the order had been cancelled and I would be getting a refund. I just checked and I still have my $25 credit in my wallet.

3 - I believe you would need to use a new email and a different credit/debit card. Not sure about that though.

*edit* I took too long typing and got Xyro'ed. :D

As for 3, yes, that's what I've heard about the free credit too. You can't use the same account or card, and it would also probably need to be the first account to ever login to that device.

Maybe I'm over thinking this (I usually do) but if I create a new GMail address to log in the newest N7 I should get a new $25.00 credit right? I wasn't that fond of all the apps I bought so can deal with losing them. A new $25.00 credit will buy the apps I really wanted and leave me more than the $11.00 in the old account. Hey, I've spent $545.22 for Nexus 7's in the last 14 days. I'm looking for any way possible to lessen that financial blow. I paid full price for both units. It's not like I'm trying to screw them out of anything.

Only if you add a different, valid, credit or debit card to your new account.

You wouldn't have to lose the old account either, technically. You can login to jellybean with multiple google accounts, and the market supports multiple accounts.

I just signed up for a new GMail account and used it to setup the new N7. It set me up for another $25.00 credit. I'm typing this post on the new unit. Now to start loading free apps again. Then a few paid ones. Looks like I'm back in business again. Now if I can only get the broken one wiped......
