Stay with EVO or get the Galaxy S2?

Okay so my wife used her last upgrade to get the Galaxy S2. I just rooted my EVO and love it again (for now). Since I mentioned I might not use my upgrade coming up the wife mentioned she want's the iPhone 5.

If she gets the iPhone 5, I can't decide if I want her Galaxy S2 or not... I haven't really played with her phone much so I don't know if it's great or not. She seems to have TERRIBLE signal with it. Other than that, no real complaints from her.

After rooting the EVO though I think I would want to root my next phone as well.

So, is the S2 good for rooting? I don't find much on it.
Or should I just hold out till the next upgrade and get something with more rooting power?

Thanks.

The phone is great for rooting if you want to go that road. It's definitely an upgrade over your OG Evo.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I am thinking I would want to root it as well. I kind of wondered if the only reason I wasn't reading too much on it was because it's just so much newer than the EVO, therefor fewer developers messing with it.

The other thing that make me a little leery is the no external memory.

the dev community is out there, and definitely going strong. And, I'm not sure exactly what you mean on that second part, cause the E4GT takes a MicroSD card just fine. I keep a 2 gig for pictures and such. :)

I love my e4gt but to upgrade i would really look at a newer phone, the phones great but battery life is a problem i bought an extended battery and made it a bit better but then comes the update pushes it feel that we get the last push for updates then again how much longer till the epic is on the black list lol and also samsungs radios are not good at all imo....id really look at the evo lte even though there is no removable battery.....i wont up grade till moto makes sprint something good lol.....well sorry for the esay lol just want you to get an idea of the phone lol thnaks

The Epic Touch is better than the Evo in every way.

EXCEPT SIGNAL!!! You will downgrade signal in pretty much every signal area (GPS, 3g, 4g, call). I think the epic touch has stronger wifi though. Not only that, the Evo does a far better job if you are moving in and out of 4G range (riding shotgun) of not completely losing connection on web.

It's a significant downgrade in signal as you can probably already tell from your wife's phone. Other than that, a big jump in every other area. Since your wife already has it, I'd probably take it if I were you and she went to Iphone 5.

It's liveable with the signal, and outstanding with everything else, but you will notice all the time that difference in signal strength.

Thank you for the reply and info. We don't have 4G here, so nothing to worry about there. Though I do use the internet (3G) a lot and it might get irritating to lose signal all the time.

Upgrade isn't 'till Nov. 1st, but I think I'll take the S2 for a spin then. If I decide I don't like it I will just sell it, go back to the EVO and wait for the next upgrade.
