i have a certain phone and am in that section. now new people come along, and noone reads full threads and info. they just get some info and move on or ask something that info is posted and they never seen it.( i see this all the time). i think a good idea would be like a table of contents for links for each device. this would be great for the forums after seeing what new people do. a sticky should be placed for every device ( with someone from that device to keep it updated and knows what is going on in that thread). please check this out http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/605238-additions-all-things-root-sticky.html posts # 6,8,10. if these were a sticky for the new people to see it would help out so many people to choose a rom, kernal, theme, ect... with the info on how to do it and all.

we as people that have been here a while might say no, but look at it in a new persons view or when you just got started.

people ask all the time here about themes and just don't know where to look or how to use search http://androidforums.com/search.php.

so this would be like a table of contents for each device, what do you think after looking at my example from prevail thread?

if you bought a phone and rooted it and wanted a theme or rom wouldn't it be nice to go to the front page of your phone and get roms, themes, kernal,ect... without searching the entire phone threads, which some fall off the first page and get forgotten about???

i know when i was new i wish they had something like this to make life easier. yes some have a sticky on how to root but don't have all info on the phones stuff, themes, kernals, roms, ect.... so this would be a great thing for the forums for new people.

pretty much looking for a yes or no????

most people here know what is going on so they will say i don't need this!!!

but think of it as a perspective or through the eyes of a new person?

That was an oops. :) The right link is -

Suggestion Box & Feedback - Android Forums

Can move this there if you like?
can it be copied there?
see if the people see this as a good thing then great, if it goes there and the people don't see it then the ones looking at it, (in suggestion), say no ,then thats that and no one else sees it or has a say in it. but if enough people like it and think it is a good thing then it might be considered more.

It's accessible by everyone there, but whatever you prefer. :)

BTW - we have got to stop ninja'ing like this. :D
i've been here for a while and never checked that thread or really knew about it, so how are others of the common people gonna see it. so the new people might not know of it either. i have been her for a while and just found out the other day about how to get to last newest post. call me stupid if you may but some of us aren't a college graduate. but we are people too. so accessible is great if everyone knows about threads. see this is my point!!!!!!!
i never new about the lounge till something got moved there.
so others are in the same boat as me too!!!

Can't copy whole threads, sorry.

All I can say is, if you want staff and members to see it and discuss it, like olbriar said, that's the spot.
ok then move it there, will i get a reply to it one way or another?????? i mean like a question asked and want an answer of yes, no, or some kinda answer either way, or does it go there and is forgotten about if no one wants to look at it or deal with it????

Personally I think this is the general android site, it's good to come here & shoot the breeze. Most of us have seen other android sites on our journeys round the web. There's the dev sites, the amateur fanboy device specific sites, sites that are just plain dead or full of spam! This one does a good job of finding the middle road, & if anyone knows answers they might give.

It's true what you're saying about people needing answers, but I don't think it's the fault of the sites (as there are many, with varying degrees of info) - not everyone is a 'phone enthusiast' & they will probably sign up as a last resort due to a problem they've encountered & demand a quick answer! Some people are too stupid / lazy / arrogant to read the manual, or at least use the thuckin search engine or google. Makes me laugh, we have google phones, & often if we use google, we'd probably get results for this site!

It's a bit like fuzzy logic, asking the public on a public forum who have a general idea, but may not be 100% right all the time. That's why it's good to read around, & if the advice matches up from different sources then you know it's probably right.

Some google results will point you to devs pages. This info gets around to other sites. People need to chill & be a little more patient. There's also this small matter of timezones ;) .

Problem is, most people won't bother to read the stickies, they just pop in to ask their question and disappear. However, if there are threads in your sub forum you feel should be stickied, PM a mod and they will take a look at it. You could also send a PM to Phases and ask about becoming a guide. That way you could help keep your sub forum organized.

i understand that, but like the forums has a table of contents to guide you to your device section RIGHT? well this is a table of contents for your device's section, only makes sence!

How is this idea different than the existing All Things Root Guide sticky http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...l-things-root-guide-updated-08-22-2012-a.html? We sent many PM's back and forth about this and that was never clarified, so please explain so we have that straight.

I think that it's a good idea, but as far as I can tell we have it implemented for all the device areas already.

If you go in that thread you cannot find a specific rom or theme, it also doesn't explain or talk about the rom or theme. So my way will link you to the rom or theme thread that explains all about it. The whole reason of my idea is because the threads fall off the map and people do not know how to search for stuff. So this would be a table of contents like a book or like this forum has to direct you to your specific device area. It would just help people out better they will be able to find stuff easier rather then double and triple posting about something because they were too lazy to look for it. I see a lot of people ask a question about a rom and then they ask where do I find that, well this would make things easier.

I started making a table of contents in the thread that you started which by the way is falling down to the bottom it is going to disappear off the first page and no 1 will ever see it again. And I can't find nothin like that in the sticky . This sticky that is there is great but it does not list of all of the other stuff like a table of contents would.

There are links to many ROM/Theme threads in that sticky. I just feel like I am missing something in regards to what you are suggesting, or that you are missing something about the existing sticky. There are headings with multiple links for the following:
  • General root info.
  • Guides
  • ROMs
  • Themes
  • Kernels
  • Tips
  • Radio/Basebands
  • Root tools & Utilities
  • Scripts

I don't want to stifle your idea, I just feel like it's already been implemented.

I added all that info to the existing sticky. Much of it was already in there, but you suggested some stuff we'd missed.

Are you wanting a table of contents with the header links added to the All Things Root Guide sticky? That's something I think might be good.

Btw, I hope you are not confusing the thread I made asking for suggestions with the actual sticky thread that was posted by Scary Alien. (http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=3528753 linked again in case the first link was missed.)

A centralized place for the links to just about everything that is important. Every link to every and anything is not in that thread are you getting that????? My idea is to make a table of contents to all of the links that are important for this specific device in this section., and I think all of the other sections should do the same .
If I was to go to another device's section, it would be nice to look like on a sticky or the first page and find a list of all of the roms themes tweaks whatever without having to search the entire threads in that section. You can click on the link and it will bring you to that thread and then it will describe what to do how to install it, the works. This sticky that is there does not do that.
