Root Any devs interested in the LG Motion?

So like....I heard this phone might not get root because of lg doing some crap with their phones on the admire root side of town....although I still dont care...the motion is a little boss

This little beast doesn't really need root other than removing the metro crap that's all other than a nice cm9 or cm 10 wouldn't hurt just saying

I would love root and bloat ware removed.

Ics let's you freeze most of the apps away. Also some bloatware can be uninstalled.

QUOTE=Shabbypenguin;4869681]the irony is everyone on the admire moving to the motion hoping development will be better has no idea what they are getting into.

no root (i mean to be fair no one has seriously tried, but the guy who rooted the admire, the lg spectrum, lg connect, moto droid 3, droid 4, and just about every other moto phone, has stopped rooting phones)
lg has started using secure boot aka no custom kernels or recovery.

im sure some attain owners that browse this forum can attest that not having recovery sucks for development ;P

soo...?

The only reason I would root was for performance reasons, this phone doesn't need it so yeah haha. :)

Personally I wouldn't get a new phone if it didn't have root. I hate the metro bloatware (and all the other unnecessary system apps I don't use)

But..
On topic of the motion. It is worth it to upgrade from admire just for 4g alone.
It would be nice to have CM9 or hell even CM10 if it got root but everybody is so obsessed with ICS (in my opinion only for the UI changes, with the exception of those of you of course who pay attention to performance changes etc.)
It satisfies many people.

nice phone and nice scores but have you seen what pimped out SG3s are posting on benchmarks? I think some stock ones will top that score

Yes I've seen what they can do first hand, but I mean come on now a $100 phone vs a $600 phone out of the box scoring 6900 on the benchmark stock un rooted is impressive. The tmobile gs3 doesn't come close to that out of the box stock, as for the at&t version I can't recall what the score was and the sprint and Verizon version I am not sure.

I hope we get root and roms and stuff but I'm ok for now cause I was able to freeze My Extras lol. I couldn't be happier with this phone, well except a bigger screen but I can live with that plus I'm coming from the Esteem with extended battery so the weight savings is a nice trade off. I got it cause of the price and I primarily wanted it to be my back up phone. I could activate it in a pinch if my phone was lost or stolen or if I was in between phones after selling one. But now it's my daily and I'm loving it. I now don't feel rushed to buy anything else for a while.

Yes, pretty much lol. djrbliss figured out most of the root exploits. Not sure why he's stopped, I'll bother shabby about it later. Maybe bliss can be convinced to do one more phone :p

He's a man, a man who bleeds and breathes and takes dumps like everyone else. Not a god or an ascended Ancient.

He figured things out, there will be others.

Are you insinuating that I put bliss on a pedestal?

Yea, Bliss is just a man. And true, others could figure it out. I merely answered the question posed. Yes, most current root exploits were found by bliss. Its what he does after all lol.

Can I purchase ths phone at Metro PCS without activating it? I am in love with my Esteem and not ready to give it up yet. I do want a new phone to play with though.

find someone with a ton in stock, Im sure they wont care.

I recommend just buying from wirelfly.com..They are out of stock currently but they will restock very soon.

Official firmware is up in the All Things Root!

What does that mean? Hi, guys. I'm new and on MetroPCS which I like and will stay on. I'm on guitar player forums, mostly and some older car forum stuff. I've never been on a phone forum as I lose half my salary to child support and can never afford the latest and greatest. Usually I can't even get close.

After getting really close to trading a guitar for a used LG Esteem and just barely getting one for $100 in cash(my max), I have had to settle for a $100 new phone. It looks like The Motion may be it. I wanted the larger screen on the Esteem but it looks like I will have to settle. I really can't afford the one hundred dollars either but my old phone is just getting too buggy.

SammyZ, I'm right below you in Miami. Anything I should know before going into a Metro store and buying this? You can PM me and if you want to talk by phone, either send your number or request mine. Anyone else can chime in. It's just that Sammy is local. Thanks for having me.

Well the motion is $149 at metro stores the rebate is only if you buy two phones. You can get it for $99 at wirefly.com though
