Apple wants Prevail Banned.

Apple just needs to chill out... We're all humans, and we all have similar ideas. I mean IS THAT NOT WHAT STEVE JOBS DID WHEN HE "REINVENTED" THE MP3 PLAYER, HOME COMPUTER, AND MOBILE PHONE? Yes, he did tweak lots of things about them, but he still got them from other people's ideas!!
Many may despise Apple for suing Samsung but the fact is a jury of peers decided that Samsung did indeed infringe on Apple's patented properties, so as an end result, Samsung's most infringing products need to come off the shelves, as decided by a jury. So hate and question the jury of nine's unanimous decision if anything, don't hate Apple for following the leagl system and being smart enough to legally patent their designs when there was no Android to speak of in the first place, in preparation for a scenario like a co. like Samsung copying its iPhone

It will be quite interesting to see how this all plays out.

Especially since Samsung makes most of the chips for Apple's iPhones and iPads.

(Anyone else thinking mysterious production line problems and chip shortages are in Apple's future?)

Apple's already excluding YouTube from being pre-installed on iPhones, and developed their own version of Maps (Google's versions are downloadable from App Store), so they're distancing themselves from Google and relying more on various companies for apps and services like Facebook and Twitter. So they're copying Google's approach of divesting their interest into many eggs so that when a partner like Samsung or Google goes sour their world isn't rocked upside down

I can think of about 1.05 billion reasons... :banghead::banghead::banghead::mad::(
Ha ha. Lordvincent. That was funny.

I'll give up my Prevail when they pry it from my cold dead hands. I might have a bunch of fancier phones but I have a lot of love for my Prevail. I stopped using it quite some time ago but it is still somewhere safe. I cant tell you where some of the phones that I have at my house are (I have more phones than fingers) but I can tell you where my Prevail is.

On a side note. If it does get banned does putting it up on Craigslist make one a criminal?

That's what I was asking! I can see the headlines now:

The Newspaper said:
MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING BANNED PHONE DURING TRAFFIC STOP
--Suspect's Galaxy Prevail considered "illegal contraband" in light of Samsung case

Indeed I was joking.....I'd highly doubt they're gonna come knockin' door to door to remove the already-sold "offending" phones.

Regardless, this WILL have implacations on Boost's image and advertising. From what I know, Boost has the Prevail as its budget Android phone. With it gone, the next available phone is the Transform Ultra, which is a mid-tier phone.

Boost essentially can no longer say they have an option for those people on an extreme budget who wanted a smartphone. That's gotta effect their bottom-line in one way or another.

Yup, read that post from Shabbypenguin too why the Hydro will not be rooted !! Here is Shabby's post :

lol let me start off by saying hroark already returned his hydro ;P

its sig checking kernel and recovery at boot aka until you bypass it you arent getting a custom kernel or recovery. no fastboot, no root, nada :(

until the next big android exploit comes out (think rageagainstthecage, or gingerbreak, or even zergrush...) there is not going to be much in the root department.

in all honesty you might wanna post this info over on the subforums for them so any potential buyers are forewarned ;)

The prevail was found to not infringe on the design patents only some software ones which should be fixable with an update which means that they is going to be another update in our future. But since I am rooted and using CTMod I dont have to worry about updates. As for the jury they completely skipped over the patent disscussion according to the jury foreman and if you watch the interview with him ypou will see that he has no idea what the **** he is talking about when it comes to technology patents.

Here you go a post on the main site with a chart of what devices infringe on what patents and as you can see the prevail infringes on some utility patents and zero design patents

Apple files to have 8 Samsung phones banned in the US, including most of the Galaxy S2 line

I will also get a link to the interview I was referring to.

I would assume that the utility patents are all software related meaning they can be fixed with an update to our little phone.

And heres a link to the video I was talking about
