I think it's pretty much 50/50.

I did hear/read something not long ago that 4EXT was supposed to be truly open source (not 100% sure where I read that though)

Im gonna try it out soon , as I would quite like to try out Sense 3.5 , as see how (un) stable it really is. If I happen to like 4EXT , I'll keep with it, otherwise I might just donate and get CWM Touch

I'm hoping to flash Jelly Bean onto my UK Sensation but the post on here says use CWM. My phone has 4EXT as recovery. Please can somebody tell me how I replace 4EXT with CWM? Do I delete 4EXT from my SD card, download CWM and then .... well ... that's where I don't know what to do next. (The phone is properly rooted and currently running ARHD).

Tks in advance.

please be aware that this is the desire hd forum,so do not use any of these specific files or roms,as they are not for your phone.

once you have the recovery you want to use, there are a couple ways ti flash it:
1)if its packed correctly you can flsh it in your current recovery as durx mentioned
otherwise:
2)rename to PD58IMG and flash it in hboot
3)flsah it with fastboot with the command fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img

i personally am not a fan of clockwork, and make efforts to use something else when available. if you have 4EXT currrently i would recomend to keep it,there is no need to change to CW. 4ext will flash any rom you want to run just fine. :)

i dint move the current post,as it is a somewhat generalized question, and will benefit users here as well

however, future comments and questions about your uk sensation are better to be asked here: Sensation - All Things Root - Android Forums since its specific for the international sensation. i frequent that forum as well, and will be happy to help you :)

Looking through the ARHD thread in XDA, says you need 4EXT Touch to get it. Is it worth me getting this 4ext, or is CWM better?
yes it's worth getting 4Ext instead of CWM. if you want to install ARHD on your sensation, you need s-off (of you aren't)..but with 4Ext, you can bypass securities of being s-on by enabling 4Ext SmartFlash, which allows the phone to write on the boot partition of the phone like you were actually s-off, which is normally not the case for us s-on users. so with smartglassh enabled, you can flash any rom like you were actually s-off. butbefore enjoying 4Ext, make sure you have installed 4Ext recovery updater apk.and it's true that most of todday's roms for sensation only require 4Ext recovery for the features that support most roms like OTA update flashing, which CWM cannot do.:D
