Average 3G Speeds

Simple questions:
What is your average download speeds? Specify kb/s or kB/s please.
What ROM are you using?
What Baseband are you using?
What general area are you in?

Now I have done networking for well over 10 yrs so I know that many things will factor in. I am not looking for speedtest results.

I am using CTMod 3.68 with ff19 baseband. I can get regulated speeds of 160-190kB/s but usually around 40-80kB/s and I am in central Florida. Using WiFi Tether.

I know all about how QoS, DNS, Time of Day, server, and several other factors can vary results so I am not looking for a discussion on that. Just want to know what avg speeds are. Kind of a research thing because I was hitting 500kB/s+ (yes kBytes/s not kbits/s) with pdanet and virtually no service in SW Florida at one point using stock ej06 ROM/Baseband and I was told those speeds were not possible with 3G.

At home, i get no less than 800kbps. I usually see 1-1.5mbps.

Later in the day/early in the morning i get as high as 2.5mbps.


At my brother's house, (about 6 miles from me) the highest i have seen is ~500kbps. And average is ~100kbps. But during peak, basically dial up is faster (30-60kbps)

Thats cool I know right where that is. I think it is considered central where I am its the Jacksonville area but when I worked for comcast they called it central. I used to go to sebring almost daily. I even worked in Arcadia I had to take 70 just south of sebring off of 27 there.

What baseband are you using? Supposed max speeds are 3.1mbps/1.8mbps down/up. But I hit 4mbps+ in bursts down in SW Florida with 0-1bar of service on the ej06 stock rom unrooted running pdannet on the old 61007 boost prl.

Yeah that was me being lazy again. I think I will get around to it later tonight or tomorrow, I already have CTMod 2.5 and CTMod 3.68 on my phone and backup is already made so it is just me being lazy. In the time I took to type this out I probably could have already flashed to 2.5 and changed PRL and probably be almost restored again.

When I head down south to get my main computer back I will drive right through there. BTW is that gas station there on the corner of 27 and 70 still the cheapest place around for gas? I think its the one on the north side of 70.

Circle K, pretty much so all of the others are always higher. Which is surprising it's the crossroads in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah I used to get gas there everyday because it was about a quarter cheaper than everywhere else. With 130 mile round trip everyday to work that quarter a gallon was a lot.
