How can I get pictures of HTC Evo 3D and other stuff? I have HTC Sync and HTC Sync Manager but neither one of them could find the HTC Evo 3D even though its connected to the computer. The HTC Evo connected warning or thing doesn't come up like my iphone. So could the cable be bad? I mean its charging with the usb cable but the HTC sync can't find the phone.

Set it as disk drive and the pictures should be located in DCIM. Then you can transfer to the computer, and then onto the EVO 4G LTE.


You could also just put the 3D's SD card in the LTEVO

1. Google Drive - Upload the pictures to your google drive account. Note: You can use any cloud storage.
2. Attach as a disk drive - plug the usb cable into the device. From the pulldown (notification bar), click the usb symbol. Then chose "Disk drive". Then on your Desktop select that drive.

Also you can install Dropbox on both your phone and your computer and turn on Auto Photo upload. When you are on Wifi it will upload all your photos to Dropbox and then sync them to your PC/Mac.

I've been using a program that lets me sync my iTunes library with my Evo (original 4G, but soon to be LTE) but I'm wondering if I can just drag and drop the music files while my phone is connected as a hard drive.

If so:

1. Do any of the little iTunes files that are in these music folders affect anything?

2. If I want to update the music, say with a new album or two, do I have to manually add just those new albums, or can I drag the whole folder again and my phone will automatically only add the new/changed files? Or will it overwrite everything all over again?

Edit: I realize that #1 is not relevant, because while the "iTunes" folder has iTunes specific files in it, if you go one deeper into the "Media" folder, that contains only mp3s. But I'm still curious about #2.

With normal music files yes you can do that, but with itunes music probably not.

What exactly is "itunes music"? I use itunes as a music organizer, but the music files are just regular mp3s, as far as I know.

You can use the sd card like a normal hard drive, just with not as much space.

ITunes uses a .m4a extension, last I checked. Could be different now for all I know, I haven't updated my iPod touch in a long while.

I assume these newer phones will play m4a's but I'm not 100% on that. I'll have to check.

iTunes can create and play many formats in many file container types, so there's no wrong answer here.

In Android, there's an app for just about anything. Meridian player will play Apple lossless files, for example.

Awesome, I haven't messed with iTunes music file in a long while. Last time I did all files were converted to m4a's when imported to the library.

I remember having to use a program called switch a few years back to convert the m4a's over to MP3 format. It really screwed the song tags up badly. My library from that time frame is a hot mess.

That's the kicker - the AAC codec is better but the container files don't deal with tags the way we want.

For that, an mp3 file is best. It's been a while but my memory is that you can set up iTunes to make that the default import format. Hopefully that hasn't changed.

I wonder if we answered all of the questions.

Leave the library and xml files behind, and drag album folders, or the whole folder. (they won't hurt anything to drag the extra over but will take up space)

When you do, you'll get the option to replace or skip duplicates.

I just connected my Evo to my PC (disk drive mode) and I noticed that it doesn't show the top-level contents of my SD card, but rather only the contents of a folder called ext_sd.

Even though I erased my SD card when I first installed it, there are now several empty folders at the top-level, such as Music, Movies, Download, etc. (I assume they get added automatically by the OS.)

At any rate, I'm wondering if it's possible to move all of my music library into this top-level Music folder, or perhaps it doesn't necessarily need to be there anyway?

All I was able to do was create another Music folder within the ext_sd folder, and I moved a few test albums into this folder. I then turned off disk drive mode and went into Google Music, but oddly it only found one of the two albums I put on the SD card...the other one wasn't listed. I have no idea why it did that.

So:

1. Why did it detect one album but not the other, when they were right there together in the same place?

2. Can I (and do I need to) access the top-level of the SD card, or is putting the music in the ext_sd folder just as good?

P.S. I remember on my original Evo, whenever I downloaded something, it went into the top-level Download folder. Now, on my Evo LTE, downloads go into the ext_sd/Download folder. Why the difference?

ext_sd is your actual micro sd card. just putting something into the sd card directory is your 10gb you get on your phones memory after os installs. lol confusing a little
