i need the most stable and quick release for my i7500..
im still using the factory release 1.5, base band ver I7500DFII3
im really not intrested in 2.0 or 1.6,, i just want every thing to work smoothly...
i can currently get the phone to last about 3-4days with out charge.. but i would like to get it a little longer.. if i can...
2 weeks after buying it i was really regretting buying this phone as the battery life was just woefull... and it was no where near as smooth as it was advertised..
Cheers Joel.

I'm still running GalaxHero 1.1.1 (based on II5). Still seems to be a fair few bugs with the Android 1.6 releases (JB and JC firmwares).

If you don't want to run a custom ROM I'd say your best bet is probably IK5 or IL3 (the last of the 1.5 based firmwares).

3-4 days is very good battery life for a smart phone though, don't expect any improvements on that!

+1 on the IL3 suggestion. It's what I'm using, and although it's only v1.5 and somewhat slow, at least "everything works".

As far as I understand, the v1.6 versions have a very battery-hungry bug that strikes more or less at random, and some of the custom builds lack a few features (for instance, gaosp sounds very nice but does not yet support the camera).

I've made some testing awhile ago. I you put the phone in flight mode, i.e. all communications are cut off, but leave the background data on, the awake time will be around 3%, if you however turn off background data, you can push awake time down to 0.8-1.2%.

That is of course if you don't have any nasty 3rd party apps that keep the phone awake.

guys,
thanks for the info . . .

say android didnt allow backgrund process to run,
i made a mistake by typing background processes.

wat I actually wanted to know is, does multi tasking has an impact on battery life ??
this is bcoz, i feel that galaxy has a pretty powerful battery and what if android didnt ve the capability of multitasking, would it help in improving the battery life ???

If the phone reports that it sleeps, that means that background apps don't use CPU. Just check in battery usage info. I suppose developers are getting better at writing apps, and I have not recently encountered poorly written apps that would run in background, preventing sleep and therefore draining battery. (Although there are some... Like some clock widgets that don't appear in partial wake usage or cpu usage, but increase wake time!)
