OK, this has been bothering me ever since the Attack of the Clones...

If Imperial Stormtroopers are clones of Boba Fett, why are they so rubbish? They are a joke.

In the original Star Wars trilogy (now episodes 4-6), they were basic cannon fodder. They would just run around a corner and stand in the middle of a corridor waiting to get blasted by Han or Luke, etc.

They can't shoot for toffee. They always miss, but always get shot.

Now. Boba Fett is awesome formidable, and that is obviously why he was cloned to make the army. So what happened? Why are they so rubbish?

Well... not all of the troopers are clones. This one definately isn't (ADPoV #008: I am NOT a Clone!) and as to them being bad shots.. well the films are propagander on behalf of jedi fundamentalists and therefore aren't really trustworthy... ADPoV #001: Bad Shots

What was always funny to me is the bit in Ep 4 where Luke and Obi Wan find the trashed sandcrawler, and Obi Wan explains that it wasn't tuskans because the blaster fire was too accurate, and that only stormtroopers are so precise...

...then you remind yourself of that line during the Death Star scenes

I know but I kind of figured they're all the same person. However I seem to remember Jango Fett giving Obi Wan a run for his money. I think that opinion of yours that they were both rubbish is open to debate. Boba Fett sure doesn't have a reputation for being rubbish.

I never said Boba Fett was rubbish (note my user name). And yes Jango did give Obi-Wan a good one-two, I just don't like the character. He did get the typical Fett chump death too.

Sorry, I wasn't paying proper attention to the effect of your parenthesis - I read "who was rubbish, as was Boba Fett", forgetting the connection with the clone clause. Oops.

It is okay, I typed the statement 4 or 5 different ways to avoid making it sound like Boba Fett was rubbish.

Well clones have a short life span. Episodes 4,5, and 6 were 30-odd years after the original clone army was created. What started out as all clones quickly turned into a 'watered-down' product.

Plus they obviously started letting regulars into the imperial army.

But Boba Fett didn't have a 'chump' death. You are aware that he lived through the sarlacc pit right? Dengar rescued him and he was still kicking well into his 70's last I checked (TEU)
