Hi

I noticed the last fews days when I slide down the top bar it says "Ongoing"
and it says my "External Memory card is preparing " and constantly shows "Scanning SD card media files."

I have rebooted and its still doing the same thing. Its really killing my battery now.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

Ussually happens when your SD card is not inserted correctly , your micro SD slot is getting a bit , broken , or you need to factory reset / replace the phone

I just got this phone 2 weeks ago and only inserted it once and never touch it after that.

Finnaly got it all set up to my liking.

I think it started to happen when I installed Power amp so I deleted it .

Now I notice some things won't work because it says..media being scan now can't proceed or something like that.

Going to try to reinsert card ..if that doesn't work I will try the card that came with it. This way I will know if its the card or the phone.

Thanks

When I use google music everything plays just fine. When I try to use the stock music app (square pink box with white music note) it says

"Media is scanning"

So I'm thinking this app is causing the problem but I can't delete it !

I stopped it from running and rebooted but still getting the same problem.

Going to delete google music app and see if that helps.

There's no default option for either one..was hoping that was causing the conflict or something.

what size memory card?

I've only had that issue if the phone has died while a file was being transferred though.

also, are you rooted?

I have a 32g card and not rooted.

Everything works fine and all other music apps work..amazon and google.

It's just that one OEM stock app that won't play music . When I tap on it to use it it says "Media is scanning"

I also notic when I connect to laptop via USB the scanning icon on top goes away .Then when I tried the problem music app it says " Music is not availble
Mass storage connected to PC"

Does anyone know if this app came with the connect phone I'm just assuming it did (pink square with white music note) or is it left over when I deleted "Pro Amp" and MX " ?

Maybe thats the problem.

My MOTOROLA DROID RAZR MAXX actually came out of retirement (It worked and turned on , shocked!) and it had this exact problem today , All i did was use Watchdog , and see what is running in the background , and it saw that USBHOST.APK was running and it was what tokenpoke said , I found a half transfered file in my Sd card (A Game from my PC , apk file for the phone to install) and after I transferred it correctly , it scanned perfectly

I found the problem.

Right before this happened I downloaded several apps and assumed it was one of the music app like the stock music app. Which
gave me the message of media being scanned along with bar icon showing constant scanning.

I deleted all the music apps and still had the same problem,.

Then I remembered I also DL'd MP3 Music Ringtone App. Great app where you
can make your own Ring Tones - Alerts - Notifications.

Other than making my own tones with my own media I DL'd some of their tones and it was stuck in the middle of DL'ing a ringtone when I close it.

So now all is well :)

Thanks to all who help me with your replies !
