Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

In regards to the next Nexus device - do you guys think we'll see one before Christmas/New Years?

Hmmm... I guess just the Motorola brand. I guess it seems that Sprint's lacking, to me, because they don't have what I'm looking for, whereas VZ does.


Ah. Okay. Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, I think I saw a complaint about this in another forum, related to either VZ or "AT&T."

I suppose it makes sense. Prevents a user from getting a subsidized phone, then taking it to Europe or some other GSM area, bailing on the contract and stiffing the provider that subsidized the purchase.

Does Sprint eventually, after some time, unlock the SIM? If not: I see no point in a world phone. A sticky or FAQ entry here might be handy.

Some Moto phones are built a bit more robustly than many other phones. VZ' 'Droids, for example, have the Kevlar shells, Gorilla Glass fronts and, IIRC, titanium or high-strength aluminium internal frames. ISTR the Photon was built similarly?

I guess I just dont buy into the marketing hype. Gorilla glass for example is still glass (and not exclusive to moto)

It resists light scratches. It still cracks scratches shatters under the right circumstances ( it suprisingly doesnt take much)

My personal opinion so far....I have not seen anything personally that seems extra special about moto phones.

Of course. Tho I don't know as it's all marketing hype. From what I've read: Gorilla Glass is tougher than "plain old glass."

Getting back to Sprint's offerings...yeah, I really hope they do start to step up the game. For me, it doesn't mean I'll leave because it's the only carrier that gets strong signal at my house, but I feel like they are moving in the right direction. This is the first year I've actually waited to use my upgrade in a long time.

I'm with you there. My upgrade is burning a hole in my pocket. I want to use it but I'm waiting for the Note 2. Normally I'd get so bored with my phone that I'd get a new one almost every 6 months.

I certainly hope every carrier gets the Note 2, I mean just look at all the competition the Galaxy 3 got everyone. With the Note 2 and the LG Eclipse Sprint could have a strong lineup with decent budget phones coming out pretty soon. Throw in some Nexus devices and Christmas is coming ealy this year.

Lol...everyone has the same phones ..att sprint tmo..even verizon. Verizon has one line the others do not carry and I fail to see anything superior in the droid branded line.

As for the Nexus, unless Google puts the smack down and really does release several Nexus phones at once, I wouldn't expect to see a new one on Sprint until April/May of next year, holding with their release dates for the Nexus S 4G and the Galaxy Nexus.

As discussed earlier in the thread, moto and verizon have an exclusive agreement. Just as you do not see much from moto on tmobile or att...

Each device has a number of reasons for delay. There are agreements made,carrier bidding on first dibs and carrier specific changes (like led notification)


The S was delayed by choice I bet.. samsung was at a crossroads then (can you say instinct)

Sprint got the S3 weeks before anyone else.

Manufacturers are trying very hard to streamline the process

Nice! Considering the Photon Q was August 19, it would seem fitting that the Note 2 or the LG Eclipse would be this month. Thing is, the LG Eclipse already passed through the FCC, but I hadn't seen any reports that the Note 2 has gone through the FCC already.

My last date prediction had the Cayenne being released this month, but the Eclipse could release at the same time (considering the Cayenne is a mid-range device).

*hmph* Well, then, I'm out of the market. No decent Motorola on Sprint, nothing else Sprint has that interests me, and I'm not interested in paying $20 more per month for less from VZ.

Yup. Not only that, but they kept the carriers from having too much influence on branding so that the phone (for the most part) was universal across the different providers. Helped the SGS3 become the most popular device, over the iPhone.

Looking over the dimensions of the Razr HD and Razr Maxx, the LG Eclipse should be a little shorter, but closer in width to the SGS 3. Last question is thickness, but if it is the same thickness as the Optimus G, that means it'll be almost the same thickness as the Razr HD (thicker by .05mm, which is negligable). Although, the thickness could be quite deceiving because that is usually measured off the thickest part of the phone and the Optimus G's styling looks like it's pretty consistently thick from the top to the bottom, where the Razr HD's thickest portion of the phone is only at the top of the phone.
