Root [International] Rooting gone wrong, help appreciated!

Hi,

So I'll try and give the story the best I can:
Decided to root phone and install 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
Used the wrong instructions (the ones for Verizon S3) and flashed the wrong rom.
Phone went soft brick and I was freaking out completely.
After 3 hours of trying to get it to boot and flashing all different kinds of roms I got it to work again.
Now I've some stock img installed (not sure what exactly, I'll check when I get home and update) together with ClockWork Recovery touch.

The bottom line:
At first it kept restarting every time the screen turned off (whether automatically after 30sec or manually).
That stopped without me changing anything to setting as far as I can tell.
The phone is not as smooth as it used to be, it tends to be a bit f*cked up when booting (at the samsung logo).
WORST: It takes about 2 seconds for the lock screen to pop up EVERY time I turn the screen on. I made a video to be 100% clear: Slow unlock screen Samsung Galaxy S3 - YouTube.

I would 1. like to get it back to stock as much as possible, factory settings kind of thing 2. possibly try installing jelly bean
What is the best course of action to take?

Sorry for all these questions and possibly a repost... I'm pretty freaked out and afraid I just threw away 500€

If you have the international version of the S3, the GT-I9300, go to the sticky (all things root guide) on this all things root forum and read through the linked "how to root and unroot" .

That guide will instruct you on how to flash a completely stock ROM, as well as help you find a custom ROM to your liking.

Did you make a nandroid copy of the newly rooted stock ROM, before you started flashing stuff? If so, restore it via recovery.

Making a nandroid is the best way to get a get out of jail free card when flashing stuff. You need to back up the efs as well.

I have edited the original post quite a bit, now. But to answer your question: no, rooting and flashing a ROM, has not been detrimental. Rather the other way around.

I run Omega v. 13.1 (ICS) , and the Siyah kernel.

I don't a nandroid image.
If I follow the unrooting instructions I basically install back the standard ROM the phone came with right? "Get a fresh start" so to speak :')

Yes, you will get the fresh start, so to speak. Just make sure that the ROM you choose is as close to your original ROM as possible.

The most common mistake people make, me included, is not having the patience to do your home work properly. Do that, and you will not shorten your life expectancy from sheer nervous breakdowns quite as often when sh*t happens unexpectedly (as it tends to do)...

Hey, thanks for all the help so far... That's also why I'm stalking the forum with stupid questions... I just want to be 200% sure I'm doing the correct thing this time.
Anyway, I've installed the stock rom etc but problem persists... It seems this is happening to ppl who haven't rooted phone as well so I'm hoping I could return it for replacement... However I have one big problem left.

When I boot the phone in recovery mode I still get the ClockWork recovery screen... which would instantly destroy any hope of a replacement... Even if the issue is non root-related they'll decline it. What's up with that? :S I thought I did a clean install thingy? When I resset factory stats etc CWR stays... WHAT DO?!

You need to buy an app called triangle away, that will wipe the phone's logg of how many times you have been a bad boy and flashed a custom binary, such as a ROM or a recovery. Otherwise you are scre*ed even if you manage to restore the phone to stock.

As I understand it, you will need to get the ROM from sammobile and flash it via the computer (Odin). You can't flash that from recovery, as the recovery will still be custom.

Keep reading and asking! That's much better than asking for a solution afterwards

But I still haven't found a way to uninstall clockwork recovery... which is a pretty big disaster.
Followed one of the tutorials on XDA and now phone won't start recovery... And there's still a superuser + CWR icon on the phone so I wouldn't be able to return it.
I've searched everywhere on XDA and androidforum...

I think you need to flash a stock rom with PC ODIN with phone in down load.
I think that this restores the stock recovery.

Do a hard reset, that should remove/ format every single partition that need to be formatted. If you still have the super user icon, that probably means that you are still rooted. Does any root program work, like setcpu or titanium backup?

Then flash again using Odin.

If this doesn't help, I'afraid that I am at a loss...
