Upgrading to 2.1 Tutorial

Is it bad that my 2.1 update won't unzip? i know your not supposed to unzip it but I trieD to anyways and I couldnt. Should i dl another update or still atempt it?

That won't be an indication of whether you got a good download or not. Just go for it ... I think the phone does some error checking before it starts the upgrade, anyway.

FWIW, I tried unzipping the backup copy of the file on my computer just for the heck of it, and ended up with a single file named "PB00IMG.zip.cpgz" ... whatever that means. (Probably nothing!)

Make sure it's exactly 108,819,939 bytes (or 106,270 KB or 103 MB) after you finish downloading. If not, download again.

just checking here.....when i download the file, it comes in at 103.78 MB, which is what it states it is upfront. and since that's not 'exactly' 103, is that ok? thanks.

If your computer is calculating it to the nearest hundredth of a megabyte, the NEW leak is 103.78 MB, and the old leak is 103.81 MB. I edited the posts above to reflect this, since that seems to be common.

that's the one that is yielding me a 103.78 figure....hence my confusion with regard to the 103.81, and thus which should be 'theee' latest, etc.

if in doubt, check the hash for it. kinda like a file fingerprint, make sure it matches.

I just downloaded it from that link and the hash tags match what I downloaded previously and installed, which is the "phenomenal" leak, which is the current one.

simple download/install, it adds a new tab to your file properties (hash tab) that shows you the various hash data for a file, which is a digital fingerprint or signature that you can use to compare a file with an original to make sure it is unchanged or authentic.

Crap! Good catch. Fixed now. The new leak is indeed smaller than the old leak.

Im wondering this too!! I used it to make my backup on 2.1 without even thinking about it....so it should work for the restore too?!?!
