Upgrading to 2.1 Tutorial

But i already dragged it to the card then tried to unzip it on my comp for the Hell of it and said it could not unzip. Am i still fine since i dragg3d it to the card first? Is it supposed to unzip if I try on my comp? Im just curious if I got a bad version

That won't be an indication of whether you got a good download or not. Just go for it ... I think the phone does some error checking before it starts the upgrade, anyway.

FWIW, I tried unzipping the backup copy of the file on my computer just for the heck of it, and ended up with a single file named "PB00IMG.zip.cpgz" ... whatever that means. (Probably nothing!)

Download link for second 2.1 leak (aka "phenomenal" or "new leak"):

PB00IMG.zip

Make sure it's exactly 108,819,939 bytes (or 106,270 KB or 103 MB) after you finish downloading. If not, download again.

just checking here.....when i download the file, it comes in at 103.78 MB, which is what it states it is upfront. and since that's not 'exactly' 103, is that ok? thanks.

If your computer is calculating it to the nearest hundredth of a megabyte, the NEW leak is 103.78 MB, and the old leak is 103.81 MB. I edited the posts above to reflect this, since that seems to be common.

if your unsure of the file, here are the hash tabs to compare,

CRC32: 5C4F181F
MD5: 6E3A2BB96432276B0AF51BA6E7E1820C
SHA-1: 46AB206E13F3D3868D1745B78062A09198846F20

edit:
and if you need an easy way to check hash tabs, this is great,
HashTab 3.0 http://beeblebrox.org/

if that link doesn't work I have uploaded here, http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WRAN8Y3Z
hash is;
CRC32: 355BBF35
MD5: A4E5F600252CE886F10390F6EA0A2D76
SHA-1: 1B4E176C95F965EBD07A7517EA49FC7BAD516FB8

From post #165:

"Also, if you're looking at two different PB00IMG.ZIP files:

Old 2.1 leak = 108,854,573 bytes (or 106,304 KB or 103.78 MB)
New 2.1 leak = 108,819,939 bytes (or 106,270 KB or 103.81 MB)"

which is the opposite of what you're now saying, unless I'm getting cross-eyed. :D

HashTab 3.0 HashTab... is the coolest thing ever!

simple download/install, it adds a new tab to your file properties (hash tab) that shows you the various hash data for a file, which is a digital fingerprint or signature that you can use to compare a file with an original to make sure it is unchanged or authentic.

Crap! Good catch. Fixed now. The new leak is indeed smaller than the old leak.
