Restart every n days

I restart my phone every couple days because it seems to keep it running smoothly.

Does anyone else do this? Is it unnecessary?

I do it about every other day or if i notice some lag and it seems to make things run smooth.. Its like a computer, sometimes it just needs a reboot

I've worked for verizon, at&t, and sprint....ALL these carriers recommend restarting your phone.

However with that being said, I never turn my phone of haha. The last time I restarted my phone is when I updated to 2.1 and before that ummmmmm never.

But it is recommend and I probably should, just don't

The only time I restart mine is when it is required. As long as it is running fine, I don't worry about it.

I've had my phone now almost a month. I reboot it on the weekends after I clean out that weeks worth of txt messages; like a maintenance day.

The only thing I dislike when I reboot is all the bloat programs that start by default. I'm still running 1.5 and I don't know if that changes when you go to 2.1

Also, I think Verizon recommends doing a *228 option 2 at least once a month, and it reboots automatically when you do that.

^^ and for me thats always like everyday lol
Especially now that i was told how to replace the image when the phone boots, the one with the 3 skateboarding droids.

I have rebooted mine maybe twice. Ive not had any problems I just rebooted to do the sleep issue with the native SMS.

I do mine often because of the sound issue. I turn it off before a shower while on airplane mode, come back and turn it on before I get dressed, and when I'm all done I take it off the charger and turn off airplane mode. It takes care of the signal issue and has fresh, clean system memory to work with.

This coupled with advanced task manager helps keep me phone running relatively smooth.

I have 3 batterys and a standalone charger. I rarely ever actually charge my phone, I just switch to a new battery so I do reboots regularly.

The only time I've rebooted in the last few months has been while updating to 2.1, and after I re-download all my apps after those updates to get a fresh start. Haven't really had any issues.

I always turn mine off during my daily recharge. 30 minutes midday. Seems to charge faster when it is off.

That's what "Airplane Mode" is for.

I boot mine as needed. I've noticed that the memory management can get bad after several days so I do a reboot and all is well again. Since this phone is my one and only phone, it stays on constantly.

Exactly what is Airplane mode for? If I'm flying I don't get signal anyway. So why not turn the darn thing off and save the battery? It only takes a couple of minutes once you land to turn it back on. I can't do spreadsheets on the thing, I'm not a game player, and I'd rather take a nap or read a magazine about why I'm not getting any OTA with only 2 days left in the quarter.

Especially now that i was told how to replace the image when the phone boots, the one with the 3 skateboarding droids.

not to stray too far off here, but, when i replaced the bootanimation.zip the skateboarding droids were still there for a few moments and then it went into the animation I pushed to the phone.

as far as rebooting though, the only time I have bounced my phone is when the audio would quit during calls. So far that's been twice on the 2.1b rom. I don't notice the phone becoming laggy even after being UP for several days.
