I transfered some songs to my SD card, and when I try to play them, I can't. Some songs play though and they all play on Windows Media Player.

DoubleTwist - Just skips the song
Default Music Player - Skips the song/freezes
Google Music Player - I get Music Playback Error

As i said before, maybe its the format. Not so much as the format itself, but as the format may be messed up. Somebody probably encoded or decoded something or what not. I use player pro and it works phenomenal. Try player pro and if it still doesnt work, DL another version/copy of that songs. Sorry ur having the issue, dont know how much more i can be helpful. Good luck hope u fix it

That happens to me now all the time. The issue I found is any third party music dl and custom ROM. I like you, use other sources to get our music. As our phones (android system) does not fully agree all the time. I was dling the song then move the song to the media folder. Here in lies the problem. This is how I was able to fix the issue.

1. Download the song.
2. Instead of simply moving the new song (file) to the media folder, copy it instead.
3. Leave the original song in the dled folder until you check the song will play.
4. After the song plays, erase the original file.

Since I do that now, everything works as it should. No issues.

If this helped in some small way, don't forget the thanks button.

I get the songs from my computer, they weren't downloaded through third party apps.

Look at the permissions on your computer. Just because the permissions on the song are good for your phone doesn't mean you can play them if your permissions is wrong on your computer.

All the permission boxes are checked on my computer, tried using a different SD Card, same error kept happening. I googled this and a suggestion was to delete Twitter, but I don't have Twitter installed. I downloaded it and uninstalled it and still nothing.

This is a reoccurring issue with roms lately. Don't know why. But in the ctmod thread they suggested downloading winamp, play a song. Then it is suppose to work correctly. I am actually trying this method now and it seems to be working. Been listening now for 6 hours.

I can also confirm that downloading winamp fixes the issue. Not sure if it fully fixes the native player but after i installed winamp i played a few songs from the native one and it did work.

Funny... I had playback issues with megatron but not with ctmod

There were times I had issues with music when I was on $hevron, transform, and now Megatron. I have not had the distinct pleasure of using CTmod. I helped with Meagatron (very small part) getting files cause it was made for Boost and they decided to make it for Sprint too. So I may or may not decide on CTmod. Regardless (rambling sorry), I will try and find a possible fix for the issue.

If this helped in anyway don't forget the thanks button.

For everyone with music play back issues. I am in the process of testing something I did. It will be about 24 hours before I am able to fully see the results. I listen to music 8 hours a day while I am at work. I will post my results at around 5:30 - 6:00 pm (est). Please be patient.

Just an update. The playback error might be something on Google's end. I use Google Play music to house and play my library, and have seen the error 5+ times in the last 30 minutes on songs that have never had an issue before.

Yea I been having problems too but with the stock rom all my mp3s and m4as (songs bought off iTunes) do play. But with custom roms like megatron I keep having problems

I have a solution for the mp3. Don't know about mp4 though as I have none.

Go to above. Download. Must have root access file manager.

Delete stock music player.
Delete dalvik/cache of music player.
Move downloaded file to /system/app.
Reboot. Hopefully it will work. Let me know.
