***Unofficial Motorola Shadow Thread***

Damn. I've been waiting for the incredible but this phone seems awesome! But knowing how long weve been jerked around about it its hard to want to follow another phone. Wish there were better pics. And the shadow would only be a few months after the incerd is supposedly coming. But I'm in need for a new phone!
Choices, choices!

If things go AS PLANNED it'll be out 2 to 3 month after the Incredible. I've been following the Incredible for a while now as well and recently discovered the Shadow.

At this point I plan to jump on the Incredible as soon as it's released and continue to watch the Shadow. At that point, unless the Shadow shows signs of being delayed into August or later, I'll return the Incredible and switch to my Omnia for a month or 2 and then get the Shadow when it's released.

I just know I would hate to fall out of love with my phone 2 months after buying it and I think the Shadow MAY make me fall out of love with the Incredible. Then again it still seems early and we still don't have any GREAT pictures of what this things gonna look like.

I don't think they'll have the iPhone until the fall at least that's what the WSJ is reporting my guess is it will have LTE but won't be released until sometime next year.

So about the OMAP processor would it run just like the Droid would if it were overclocked to 700Mhz and just run cooler?

Only thing is, everything you search about the Motorola Shadow pops up that it has a keyboard.

except this...

which i pasted in the shadow thread

edit:the mods moved this post here (which is why it is posted twice)

Engadget is reporting different, and with good sources.\

No offense, but how does that let us know it doesn't have a keyboard? It seems extremely hard to tell IMO. It's not like i don't believe you.

According to insiders on HoFo, theres 2 devices. The Shadow, which doesn't have a keyboard and is due out around June/July, and the Droid 2, which is still VERY early on, and has a keyboard (and possibly LTE!) but due out around September/Octover.

That's where I got that info as well.

It's also stated that the world's first CDMA iPhone will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology, which we caught just last week dabbling in some of NVIDIA's Tegra 2-based wares. If all goes well, Pegatron could begin mass production of the CDMA iPhone (exact model not disclosed) this September, so it's hard to say if Sprint or Verizon would have access before the all-too-lucrative holiday season.

Droid 2...now featuring an even shittier keyboard. UPTOP! Anyone? Anyone?
Ehem moving on

Anyways I do believe the Shadow looks like a nice phone, but if i remember correctly it has a place for a wrist strap and that bothers the crap out of me. I forgot we are all 5. Does it come standard with the cookies and milk app? (which would be awesome. Nothing wrong with cookies and milk mates ;) )

I'm quite interested in the Droid 2 though, because I'm interested in this LTE...

By the tiem everythings 4g in a year, or 2 years I'll then buy a new phone with a physical keybaord and...a 2ghz processor maybe? ;) Apple will be begging by that time.

First off the wrist strap you saw was on a RENDERING of the Droid 2 so don't worry about it being on the Shadow. From everything that HAS come out about the Shadow it should be a pretty solid phone. Most likely no childish or strange gimmicks.

And to be honest I wouldn't really worry about it even being on the final version of the Droid 2 either. The pics you see floating around are an EARLY render of the Droid 2.

Geesh people, do I have to make the letters bigger and brighter. The Shadow != Droid 2. The Shadow DOES NOT HAVE A KEYBOARD, while the Droid 2 DOES. Sorry, but had to do it. Read up the first post and it tells you.

So far the Droid 2 has gone through another hardware change. The pic was a render, just like the first render of the Droid.

Ok, now off topic.
This is just me lol. On the iPhone topic.
It was speculated that Apple was testing a "device" on Verizon's upcoming LTE network back in 2009 if I'm not mistaken.

Later on, it was said that Apple was working on a CDMA iPhone model for Verizon, and that the chipset supplier would be Qualcomm.
And now, we are getting info that (what the WSJ said) that Apple is going to release two different models (maybe just difference in EV-DO and HSPA), one for Verizon, and one for AT&T. However, I think that Apple has been working on three different models; an LTE one, a CDMA (3G) one, and GSM/HSPA one, although maybe they'll go a step-ahead of the crowd (but not HTC since they released the first US 4G/WiMax phone) and release an iPhone HD/4G for Verizon when they launch their LTE network before the end of the year.

Also, take in mind that Verizon's LTE network will go live before the end of the year, and that there is a high percentage of the Motorola Droid 2 being it's first LTE phone, or maybe even the iPhone if Apple is really serious in that perspective. If the new iPhone does have iChat, (which is also a feature of the upcoming Droid 2) then it could also be a given that it will be launching with Verizon's LTE network, no?

Man, I wish I remembered in what forum/site/blog I commented, and one of the Mods said that LTE was wayyyy off. So now what? Lol.

I wonder if we should make an iPhone HD/4G thread, or if we should keep on commenting that in here. I am by no means saying not to of course, since we do have little to no more info in regards to the Shadow.

Is one of these phones going to be the "nexus two"
Moto said they are working on a google phone currently which would be released direct to the public I assume through the google site again..

Is that going to be the droid 2? with the keyboard?

A lot of sites on the internet were suggesting the shadow would be the nexus two but then again those sites were saying the shadow had a keyboard...

Specs look great so far.. Just hope they do a 3g version and an unlocked version for those of us not in the states.

Not really sure on that. The only one that knows is Eric S. from Google lol. He is the one who chooses which device/phone will be the next "Google Phone" to introduce its next firmware upgrade. However, I am highly doubting that the Shadow will be the "Nexus Two" for a simple reason, it will be sold by Verizon just like the Droid was, and not through Google. If what Google is doing so far by selling the Nexus One via its site, then we can assume that the next Nexus phone will be sold via their site as well, thus eliminating the Shadow as the Nexus Two. However, I'm also doubting that the Droid 2 will be the Nexus Two because so far it's been somewhat said is that it will have LTE, thus being sold by Verizon once again since they will be the ones providing the data pricing for its LTE data traffic. Just my 2 cents

Not that you couldn't be right but I believe VZW stated that LTE will initially be for data only devices (aircards) and the first LTE phone on VZW wouldn't be released until summer of 2011 most likely. I think everyone hoping for an LTE capable N1, Droid 2, Shadow, or VZW iPhone this year is going to be dissapointed. Just my opinion though.

I heard that it would only be data, and not "calls", ie LTE won't be able to do what AT&T does, surf the web while on a call, but only do data. As far as it's known, Verizon, and AT&T as well haven't decided on the "calling" standards. Also, there was mention in HoFo that we could expect the Motorola Tablet early in 2011 (Q1 I believe) with LTE. An "insider" also said that the initial LTE products from Verizon wouldn't be selling a lot because of the availability/coverage of LTE at launch. That is also why one of the reps/spokesperson from AT&T said that the initial products from Verizon having LTE would be bricks. Since LTE will be "data" at launch, it will have to rely on Verizon's CDMA network to be able to make calls. I believe Qualcomm has an LTE + CDMA chipset already. I think that's what they meant with "data" only. You won't be able to make a call with LTE, thus the inclusion of the CDMA chip.
Of course Shadow won't have LTE. It is believed (mostly hinted) that the Droid 2 would have LTE, and also have CDMA to fall back and make calls.
It's just me of course lol.
