Think the price will drop to $99 when KF2 drops?

ive heard itll drop down right now to 159. and the new hd will be 199 and the 16gb will be like 249. but im sure eventually you might be able to find a 1stgen kindle fire for 129. maybe 99 but i think thatd be pushing it.
Actually the KF HD 7 has 16 GB and 32 GB for $200 and $250. The 8.9 is $300 and $350 for 16 GB and 32 GB and has the same screen width, landscape, as the iPad 3 and the same pixel density. The Screen width is 7.55" versus 7.76 for the iPad. What do you think of that.

Unless they do a add supported version of the Kindle Fire (original) they will sell out the stock they have and stop producing them. They where already losing money on the Kindlefire at 199. The cost to build a kindle Fire was around 200 bucks Amazon Kindle Fire Costs $201.70 to Manufacture - IHS iSuppli. The only reason Amazon was willing to take the hit was they planned to make the money back off the Amazon Market.

The local TV news (or is it my AP crawl TV app?) has been reporting that they've ceased production of the original Kindle Fire, and that they're all sold out. Its replacement will cost less and deliver more, but will seem like a red-haired stepchild when compared to the HD models. If I was to buy another 7" Kindle Fire, it would be as a gift for someone who I hated. ;) 7" is too small to read from a distance, and too clumsy to hold.

Although the HD Kindle Fires look tempting, when you stack them up against tablets that aren't designed from the ground up to be loss leaders for Amazon media purchases, the all-purpose tablets look pretty good still.

In my case, Amazon whetted my appetite, but by announcing the product long before I could buy one, they sent me into the arms of another tablet maker. Their loss.
