Hello,

What are some hot android smartphones out in the market to purchase from ebay or Craigslist and hook up on V mobile with no contract?

A friend of mine is interested and likes to have speed, fast browsing features, fast live webcam, and quality pictures at priority.

What is your guy's opinion?

Only Virgin MobileUSA devices can be on the VMUSA network. It is CDMA so you can't just pop in a SIM.

The only thing you are going to find that meets those needs is the Evo V, it is the only with 4G. Unless you're in a real good 3G area you're not going to find fast browsing features. For speed and quality pictures you're looking at the Evo V or the One V.

Actually there are lots of differences. The Evo V is the same as the Evo 3D. The Evo 4GLTE is newer (about a year newer) and similar to the HTC One X. There are many hardware differences between the two.

And just to add what may be the biggest difference, the Evo V 4G (Evo 3D) uses WiMax for 4G, the Evo 4G LTE obviously uses LTE for 4G. Virgin Mobile is unlikely to offer LTE for at least a year (next summer at the earliest), and possibly two years.

As far as pictures go, the Evo is not the greatest. The lighting has to be even, meaning trying to take a picture in the shade is horrible, or under night situations.
Also, shutter lag is really bad unless you get a fast burst app. Even then, you lose focus quality. So trying to capture those once in a lifetime moments is tedious & disappointing at best.
The 3D images are nice, but for me, only a gimmick that I only use every blue moon.
I've been taking pictures going on 40+ years now, and on a scale of 1 - 10, I rate this phone's camera ability at 4 or maybe 5, but no more. The phone itself though is awesome if you have good signal strength in your area.

All in all, if I had to do over again, and only because of the weak network in my area, I would not buy this phone. Other than that, for a prepaid phone, it's at the top of its field in my opinion.

To confirm, so with V Mobile, you need to buy their phones listed on their website and you can buy them through ebay or Craigslist and currently their top phone is the EVO V which has 4G speeds but not 4GLTE speeds, correct?

I have no idea if you can buy them through craigslist or ebay. I'm sure there are some there. Just be warned if you get one with a bad ESN you're screwed.

ive done research on it before you can use at&t or t-mobile phones with certian sim cards they offer so basically you can use any phone that you can get that is t-mobile or at&t branded or even unlocked, the only thing i dont like about them is their stingy data rules.

well let me put it this way yes it will work if you can unlock it first, and it may be limited to 2g speeds what you need to do is research the phone figure out which radio bands it can use on gsm frequency then compare those with an at&t or t-mobile phone. if the frequency is different you will be stuck with 2g speeds. does he have good t-mobile service in his area or at&t?

Isn't the Verizon Galaxy Nexus CDMA? You can't unlock a CDMA phone to use on a GSM network.

That's because it is an LTE phone. LTE is basically an evolution of HSPA, and it requires a SIM. It is possible to get phones like the Bionic and Razr to work on AT&T/T-Mobile in the US, but it is finicky. I have not heard of anyone doing this with the VZW GNex.

And if you went that route, you definitely need to be ok with spending time occasionally tweaking your phone. You don't just toss the SIM in and go.
